From time to time it’s interesting to talk about the meaning of heaven and criteria for achievement.
It is my understanding that works alone are not enough acquire membership into this holy domain.
It is impossible for me to know God the way I do today without salvation. Salvation is made possible by rendering yourself through faith in the that your sins and self are forgiven.
As a Christian I look like anyone else might look, the difference lies within my heart and actions there in.
God’s relationship to me is as I am to Him. Because our oneness I am not concerned about sinning or evilness because I am forgiven.

So you don't believe it matters if you do evil because your place in heaven is assured?

What I am saying is because God’s presense is so good I don’t want to separate myself from Him by sinning. By accepting Christ as Savior I am taught how how to love God in connection with all things created by God.

Without religious beliefs we'd have no reason to be good!
It is more than religious beliefs that manages my behavior. It is God within me that encourages me not to sin, because sin is a distraction away from God. I choose not to sin because of my connection to God.

Religiosity has nothing to do with my behavior, in the beginning maybe, because that was what I was taught. Ultimately sinning or not sinninng are conditons and actions of the heart. The Law of attractraction, Karma, whatever we hand out or do boomerangs to our discourse or joy.

Does being good or even 'Goodness' need a reason to be? I have seen in myself a desire to be good without any sort of religious belief. Just a simple wish to be good for its own sake. Maybe even because it makes me feel good. Being the opposite of good makes me miserable and unhappy.

That could perhaps be categorized under Spirituality ? A Spiritual Inclination ??

whatever its categorization, I still don't see that goodness needs a reason to be.

Or have I misunderstood your meaning?

It's maybe more in line with what you're saying - I think - goodness simply IS - in my belief, as an inherent Spiritual quality of people. Religion encourages & can even cultivate it, but does not cause it to be.

yes I understand. I always know when something is right. This, even though as a younger person I have not always followed this "inherent spiritual quality". This 'knowingness' of the right is goodness.

The act of being reason or purpose unto itself. Being is any and all things possible including death, whatever state of being that is , is reason and purpose whether realized of not. Being in itself is purpose.
