Hi, I am new to this forum. I was not raised in any religion or believing in God. I became a member of the Baha'i Faith during my first year of college, but I have not been a very active member in the community. I never had much of a connection to God although I believed God existed. About seven years ago, I decided to get involved with other Baha'is on forums and try to get connected to God.

After that, I quickly branched off to other forums and most of my forum communication has been with atheists, agnostics, Christians and some Jews. I have learned a lot about atheism and Christianity and a little about Judaism but I am always trying to learn more. My most recent academic background was in psychology, so I find it fascinating what people believe or disbelieve and why they believe or disbelieve it. I find people in general fascinating, but I have never been that keen on religion.

I welcome you to this forum as well.

(You do realize we can’t keep meeting like this.)

Looks like Rab can confirm meeting you in another forum?

I love what you said looks like you might be a good mix here. We also have some active Baha'i which might help with help with your exploration. I welcome you and wish you well

Thanks.
I am not sure we have met on another forum, but I do get around so maybe we did. :)
We have to keep meeting like this. :D

Thanks... I know arthra from some other forums... He has been a Baha'i a bit longer than me, but not much longer, although he probably knows more than me because I was an inactive Baha'i for decades. :(

I know no other forum. They tolerate me here so I haven't gone looking!
It looks like you have been here a long time. I have only been on forums since 2013, and I have stayed on a couple for a couple of years. I have also had my own forum for five years. It is not very active right now since I went running off to other forums. The only reason I have not stayed on forums longer is because Baha'is are not well-tolerated on most forums. They are either muzzled or they are insulted on most forums, no matter how polite we are. It comes with being the new religion on the block, one that is very different from some of the older religions although similar in many ways.

Welcome! I'm interested in psychology, but a total amateur. Good to have you here!

I am kind of an expert. I have an MA in Counseling Psychology. I would have gone on for my doctorate but instead I went on for a degree in Homeopathic Medicine. It never became a career for me, and I already had an established career in another field, but that is a long story I can get into later if anyone wants to hear. I did say that I talk a lot but I do not like to talk about things other people are not interested in...
Now I am foo to work for one more day before the two week vacation. See you later. :)

I wonder if baha'i that have come here have felt the same. I can't remember anyone mentioning it, but they might have been too polite!

That sounds like a fascinating story i n its own right! Oh, and I'm also very much interested in what, for better or worse, I call "magic", which includes the thinking behind Homeopathy (the real deal, not as the blanket term for herbal medicine).

That is another long story. Suffice to say homeopathy saved my life. Of course I cannot prove that anymore than anyone can prove God saved their life. On the other hand, clinical trials have proved that homeopathy as as effective or more effective for depression than psychotropic drugs. they work on the vital force which is sort of akin to the soul level, as opposed to an elemental physical level. That is why they offer a permanent cure whereas antidepressant drugs only work as long as you are taking them.

Like I said, another long story, I got lots of those. :D
