Hello everyone,

Just signed up. Had a rocky history being born in a Syrian Christian family in India but my folks let me choose my own path once I turned teenager, moved into agnostic atheistic after seeing too many flaws in Bible, then had my spiritual experiences which led me to Taoism, Advaitha, had my Oneness experience many years later which made me realize that Infinity can be perceived, not merely conceived and all the prior years had to deal with psychosis(DID) ineffectually until I practiced unconditional love towards it which changed its nature radically. Now I'm just 45 year old dude coasting thru life in India, dependent on folks after having spent a childhood in UAE and lived till my 30s in Canada when DID(dissociative identity disorder) started.
Looking forward to what this site may offer in the way of talk and ruminations....

Hi Vasu, welcome to the interfaith dialogue forums, good to have you here!

I had similar issues...now I have come to relish many spiritual books.... I can easily ignore some blatant issues and admire, appreciate and utilize the portions of the texts that I find meaningful, inspirational, and useful in my life.

You know it sort of like how you overlook flaws in old.friends because the tip the scales in other ways.

Ruminations welcome...

I still read spiritual books but I cannot believe the OT and NT of the Bible represent the same God. I also don't think Jesus was the physical manifestation of the OT God nor did he require our worship. Just wanted people to believe in the message of unconditional love that he preached but the records of his history were edited once the Church realized the power they would gain over people by acting as his spokespersons.

Similar for this nontheistic.panentheist unitic!

I also don't feel a need for an Jesus, Christ, or son of G!d to enjoy and benefit from the passages I choose. Nor do I think a creator would have a need for worship by their creations. I think the spiritual and the science seekers are seeking the same TOE...the math, the principle that allows us all to exist.

We are a varied lot here.

I never understood how the 'protection racket' theme of many monotheistic religions gained such a stronghold. Basically, promoting the idea of a God telling us 'Well, I gots control of everything. And I dont need much. Jus belief. Gimme yer belief and I'll give ya everythin ya need. Cors, real bad things could happen without yer belief.'.
Never really showed up in NT as a major theme in the Gospels(except to some amount in John). The Church needed to use fear to establish itself and I guess fear always has been and prolly always will be a strong controlling factor of the human mind. Currently, more used by marketing than the churches.

I think it is always different as an outsider...

People make of their scripture what they will. It supports their paradigm and resonates with them, it is comfortable, works in their life and has value to them.

As long as their beliefs don't infringe on others... I am ok..I think.
