It is a question that has been asked.

I always consider the roots of faith. I see that the Prophets and Messengers are from God and are the source of Oneness, yet those Messages are also the sword that divides.

Then I consider that I live in a world of opposites, knowing that I have a choice between right and wrong, good and evil happiness and sadness etc.

So why would one promote an ideal that one knows will be either be embraced, or most likely rejected? That lays in the essence of what it is to have Faith.

The soul purpose of my life has become the promotion of unity in a very divided world, in full knowledge that as I am part of that world, it is most likely that no matter what I do, I too will be the source of some of that division.

Regards Tony

Mmm..

1 Those who disbelieve among the People of the Scripture and the idolaters could not have left off (erring) till the clear proof came unto them,
2 A messenger from Allah, reading purified pages
3 Containing correct scriptures.
4 Nor were the People of the Scripture divided until after the clear proof came unto them.

- Qur'an The Clear Proof -

It can be divisive. This life of the world is a test. If people feel threatened with loss of privilege and wealth,
many choose to oppose it.

We live in a time where everything has become global.
The financial system that underpins it is evil.
Even Russia and China have been "sucked in", and embraced financial capitalism. :(

People will determine their own 21st laws, not blinkered by the infallibility of scripture, imo

Those who choose to adhere to often conflicting ancient religious books and morals will be free to do so, if they do not actively go against (attack) the overall 21st century laws democratically arrived on by the society in which they live. They will meet fierce resistance when they seek to impose their own religious mores upon the greater population... Imo

Freedom of speech and belief within secular law is how the 21st century will roll, imo

Yes.
Secular law will make dreadful mistakes sometimes, but secular laws can be redacted and replaced.

Why do you make this comment?
How are we going to solve climate-change and growing enmity, without financial reform?

You just seem to be saying much like the Pharisees. "we are the ones that rule OK?"
Isn't that rather hypocritical, for a Christian?

It is secular law that most actively protects the weak, imo

You seem to be proving my point..
The truth divides us into two camps .. those that acknowledge, and those that deny.

You seem to be saying that the capitalist system is serving us well.
I see that millions of people in the world are very poor .. and climate-change affects the poor, not the rich.

It is the financial system that is causing climate-change.
Denying this is almost as bad as denying climate-change itself.

Secular democracy does not prevent politicians and other powers from being corrupt, but democratic transparency make it more likely they get caught, imo

If you wish to argue theocracy, you need to indicate the success of existing theocracies over democracies, imo

But don't tell me, it's all skewed by Western interference ...

And this thread is going to become another roundabout

"Why am I here?"

On the planet: For God's glory, in whatever direction that may lead.

On this forum: As with anything else, by his grace to learn, share and when possible, help others do the same.

I offer that those laws will be changed over time and will reflect more and more of what God offers. That is the way God has always worked the plans.

How about we look towards a balance. A rule of men that is guided by God given advice.

I see that is what is unfolding as we speak.
