Anybody else suffering from season change denial? It's currently 58F in the Washington DC area, 69F in the house, I've yet to fire up the furnace and am sitting here barefoot, in t-shirt and shorts! It's warm I tell you, WARM! :D

Different problem here.

After a long hot, dry spell, the weather has dipped into the cold.

Normally, people would be firing up the central heating, but our economy is in turmoil. Now people have to decide whether they heat the house, or feed the kids. Fuel, energy and food prices are rising noticeably.

Everybody's talking about it here ... we have leaders who are making no bones about the fact that their policies are intended to make the rich richer, and punish the poor for being poor, because it's their own fault for not working hard enough.

Trees are still green, but horse-chestnuts are dying at an alarming rate, from the samples I've seen locally.

So we wear extra layers, we turn off electrical appliances when not in use, we sit under a blanket on the sofa at night ...

Well poly aside this being the lounge and all, prices of everything are through the roof here too. I'm just not ready to let go of summer yet! Of course the wife being from a tropical island, reaches for her sweater when temps dip into the 70s. But alas she called from work last night to ask what size furnace filter our heating unit uses. I fear my winter denial is about to come to an abrupt end.... :(

I was in Nevada....saw triple digits daily....week later Wyoming below freezing...now back east coast cold and wet...

Have not turned on the heat yet...have started making soups thou...

(I relish and savor the times spring and fall where we don't use AC or heat!)

I go through this every year. Barefoot until my toes turn blue, no heat until there's frost on the inside of the windows! Just went out a little while ago to drop some things off at the niece's place. Wife all bundled up, me in shorts and flip-flops! :D

The wife must be extra sari...
Actually, she hasn't worn a Sari in years. I remember well our plane touching down at BWI some 33 years ago as we begin our lives together. She wore a thin yellow sari and open toed shoes. It was November!

I forget where you're located. Possibly silly question: D'you get autumns? (That's Fall, Wil ;))

I'm hoping to get an out-of-season camping trip in ... do some wild walks along the English coastline, There's some lovely salt marshes along Norfolk's coast (Hunstanton - Burnham – Wells – Stiffkey – Blakeney, if you know the area). Will probably have missed the migration of the wild geese; that's something to see and hear ...

Just this week started wearing a heavier shirt and long trousers ...

I'm about 20 miles or so northeast of Washington DC.;)
Thank you for your kind response, NJ.

If I ask stupid questions in future, please feel free to use the Japanese term 'baka' – it means everything from the friendly 'you twerp' to the absolutely abusive 'sonofabitch' ... I shall interpret it according to the degree of inanity of my question and chastise myself accordingly.

But, bruvver, it's gonna get cold, ain't it?

I completely understand why you'd want to hang on to summer!

Not at all. Not sure I've ever mentioned my exact location. No reason to remember if I had. Just says Between Celestial Planes on my profile page. :)
