I think it refers to "the Holy Land" where everybody had strong faith, and hence was an ideal society.

Jerusalem was historically its capital.
No point in living in the past, though.
We all have to go forward, and act in a fair and democratic way.
lots of kings have walked around Jerusalem and nothing good has happened. hope its the wrong place.
