Waiting for the Freeze!

Yes!
OO guage?
If I could, I'd get into OO finescale. A shunting-puzzle layout. Something urban and grotty ...

Have you seen 'Stalker'? There's a scene where the three men are breaking into the 'zone', through an industrialised railhead location. That.

Woke up at 30 degrees in colorado in September and again camping in the mtns of west Virginia, below freezing and my breath made frost inside the tent.

Do you have any south facing windows? Over the years in various houses I have built solar help for heating air. Pretty easy with that Silverback insulated foam sheets and plastic today.

This is a large one for a wall, I used to build small ones that fit into windows

Winter is not our problem, and suits my wife very well. If it is very cold, duck into quilts.Yeah, Reynaud's condition is a problem with me too (primary). Normal lowest temp here is 4 C.

I must look up OO finescale, that's new to me.
When I was a kid I lived beside the massive multi-track shunting docks at Radlett, Herts. The sound of shunting locos and the clatter of trucks banging against each other seemed (to me) to go on all night long. The main line from up North in to London

In the past I would use a small 1kw fan heater first thing in the morning to warm up my hands, but two years ago my wife bought me an electric hand warmer. They are so brilliant that I have a few of these now, and don't need fan heaters any more. And on frozen days I can stuff small hand warmers down each of my mittens.............. Your Missus has got to get you a USB charged pocket hand warmer, Aup. :)

Winter... what winter? November 1st in the US mid-Atlantic region and currently, 75F - 24C! :)
It's much warmer than usual here as well.
So, watch out!
We haven't got a clue about what's coming round the corner, no regularity any more, or so it seems.
Heat waves with firestorms, storms and hurricanes, freezes.....like an inverted lottery.

Strange, my hands, though normally cold, are warm on her skin. How come?
Latest here: Night temperature are not going to be harsh in November. At the moment 24 C.
Yeah, Himalayan regions had snow in September. All predictions are no longer of any use.

Ah, then you're luckier than me. If I place my frozen white fingers on my wife's skin she shrieks and slaps me. :D
Oh Boy! I reckon we are so going to pay for this very late summer! *shivers*

That's for sure. This was the 1st day of Spring 4 years ago at our place... ☃️

Ugh!...... Seeing that pic, I wanna clutch a handwarmer!
What a lovely amount of space you have. Properties with grounds as large as that in the UK belong to millionaires, mostly.
We put up a new fence and posts on the Left flank of our Garden this spring; 10 6' panels......... I'm glad we didn't have to reference your place! :)

During this summer, we were spending $175 per month for power (INR 14,000).
We could have saved money by installing evaporation coolers, but the problem is that his company gives air-conditioners ex-gratia.
Yes, I will use a fan warmer When required.

Cold or hot, the reaction is the same, "Don't touch me". :)

That's only the NE corner of our property! The fence belongs to one of my neighbors. Mostly to contain his dogs. Our place has no fence at all on 3 sides. Just a massive amount of tress on .89 of an acre, with a 200' driveway to clear when it snows! Far from being a millionaire though, we snagged the place in a foreclosure sale! 💲

Well, it was a great deal, I expect. May you and yours be happy! :)

200' driveway, huh? I'll have you know that the driveway from our ground to the road is...wow!.... eight feet. :D
I sold the family home, gave amounts to my kids, and moved in to this tiny place with my girlfriend in 04. It was so good that we married in 05. I must be nuts or something because I always loved 'small'. I'm some kind of minimalist, and so is my wife.

Oh, I definitely get that. We mainly bought this place for the land that went with it. I'd much prefer if there were a smaller house on it though. Especially now that I'm getting on in years. These old bones don't do steps as well as they use to and this sucker has 3 levels!.

That looks like a project to me! ......moving downstairs! :)
When my late wife died (91) I couldn't leave the area (teenaged kids) but couldn't live in the old place, and so I converted the garage in to a bedsit with bathroom. After my kids moved out I stayed on in the garage. All the neighbours thought I was totally bonkers, living in a garage when I had a bungalow next to it. Well I was, I guess, in as much as I couldn't be in the place. Some kind of ptsd maybe?

In 1972 we were nearly homeless, but I managed to rent a mobile home in a pleasant little park by a river. We lived there until mid 76 and that was such a happy time for us. Since those days I place great value on any place that can or could be a home, and when people moan about their places, or their food, or ...anything, I just know that they've never had it bad enough to put true value on stuff.

Enjoy whatever Allah provided to you and be thankful for it. Clearing snow of a 200' driveway alone will keep you healthy. :)
Bucket elevator, Jesus.

"Eight feet! You were lucky! We used to live in t'middle of t'road!"

Cue video:
Old Benny Hill bit about being poor -

Benny smoking a big cigar:
Oh, we were poor, damn poor....
Our maid was poor, the butler was poor
and our chauffeur, by golly he was poorest of all! 😂
