How much does a "Man of God" need?

As I see it, mega-preachers aren't "men of God." Most men of God I know are ascetics and perform austerities.

A man of God needs:
A good faith and the wish to serve God
His body and soul
To eat and drink to stay healthy
Clothes that fit the climate
Shelter (which need not be his own)

He needn't aim to be ascetic but he mustn't indulge in luxury.

I recall one news cast whereby some mega preachers were extolling their need for private jets (like monster airline size jets) because their God would not want them to have to deal with riding amongst and be bothered by the people in airports...

These are not godly men, but charlatans and con-men whom Christ would drive out of the temple, imo

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them"

Matthew 6:24-26

However I see they have snuck in Pope Benedict and Billy Graham, and probably some others who do not qualify for that definition, lol

Pope Benedict XVI - Net Worth: $2.5 million

While the treasures of the Catholic church do not belong to any one man, this particular church leader didn’t come into office empty-handed. The late Pope Benedict XVI, former leader of more than a billion Catholics, had, according to several sources, an estimated net worth of $2.5 million.

Billy Graham - Net Worth: $25 million

According to Billy Graham’s website, he’s supposedly preached to “more live audiences than anyone else in history.” He better take this up with #20 on this list, Reinhard Bonnke, as Bonnke claims a similar statistic in the Evangelical world.

Ratzinger, however, was not a televangelist, so I would not lump him in with these other charlatans.

He amassed his fortune through book royalties and salaries from universities.

"Papa Ratzinger," as the Italians called him, earned royalties from the many books he wrote and salaries from universities where he was a theology professor. He also had a comfortable income during his time as archbishop of Munich."

When Cardinal Bergoglio, before his election to the Seat of St Peter, left Buenos Aires for the Vatican enclave in Rome, his friends thought his shoes so shabby they insisted on buying him a new pair.

Pope Francis lives in a flat on a side-street of the Vatican City, rather than in one of its palaces. He has been gently mobbed popping put to pick up a new pair of orthopaedic shoes, or a new pair of glasses ('just the lenses, please, the frames are OK.') He's known for his frugality.

Being poor doesn't make you more righteous or spiritual, and neither does being rich. Bing rich just makes you rich and being poor just makes you poor. There's nothing wrong about flying first class.Or about flying on private jet. It just comes down to what you prefer. I'm not a fan of these big mega churches. But if people want to give them all their money it doesn't matter to me. myself personally I would prefer to have few dollars in my bank account then not. It make do thing so much easier and enjoyable. If you want to suffer Flying coach, then by all means do so. But don't give me that sillyness that it makes you more righteous.

It's the other way around:
Being righteous and spiritual, you won't be rich. You don't need to fly first class to feel comfortable; you would have greater pleasure to use your wealth to support people in need (or save nature etc.)
Of course, it's silly to give money to religious charlatans.
