How to meditate for beginners?

"Number 7 is because in the original homeland of Proto-Indo-Europeans lived, the sun remained in the sky for a continuous seven months."
One theory is that they lived in sub-Arctic regions before the ice-age. The earliest mention in RigVeda gives the name six suns, the seventh is not mentioned. They were:

Was it because the number seven is associated with divine esotericism?
Both the square breathing and the seven in seven out are found in mental health treatment for relaxation.
I think the idea of seven in seven out is that it is almost but not quite the same count as in-4, hold-4, out-4, hold-4.
If you're breathing straight in and straight out, a count of 8 is a bit too much, practically speaking for most people.
So a full deep breath of 7 in to a full release to a count of 7 out works pretty well.

That is interesting, didn't know that
However, and I am not a medical doctor, the heart beats in three-four time, like a slow waltz . . . 1-2-3-1-2-3 etc. So any physical heart-health associations I would think would revolve around this.
Forcing 4 against the heart's 3 would be detrimental to physical health, yet conducive to noumenal experiences

I'm not a medical doctor either, I'm a mental health counselor.
I'm not sure what the exact development of the square breathing vs the 7 breathing methodology is, I just intuited from experimenting. It's manageable to breathe in to a count of 4, then hold your breathe, then exhale, then hold your breath, but if you try to breath in really deep to a full count of 8 it's just kinda hard, and exhale to a full count of 8 it's just kinda hard (clients say that too) so I just thought that using the 7 in 7 out was acknowledging that.

I've only used 4Fold Breathing as I mentioned before

No harm in experimenting. But one comes back to normal breathing. And IMHO, that is the best, nothing forced, all natural, just what the body requires.
