Who are the elected 144.000

Are the 144.000 assumed holy so they can do as they are pleasing?
Are they a group of priests?
Are they of a specific race or not?
An interesting thought on that number, is that it is 9 when added.

Numbers can have great meaning. I assume @RabbiO could offer some insights into the ancient use of numbers in text. I am aware that it was well used in ancient Jewish times, even up to this day.

12,000 from 12 tribes, with the exception of the tribe of Daniel. Joseph's two sons each were granted 12,000. So that makes 144,000.

This is stated in the book of Revelations. I don't know what the tribe of Daniel will do to receive this punishment.

Thanks for explaining. I just saw that the tribe of Benjamin and David were cursed. That could explain it.

Daniel and David are of the tribe of Judah. They are not cursed the only tribe left out was the tribe of Dan. That tribe was replaced with a second son of Joshua. It is believed in some circles that Dan was left out due to worship of idols. The twelve tribes come from Jacobs children who was called Israel. ; Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin.

Revelation 7:4-8

5 From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,

from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,

from the tribe of Gad 12,000,

6 from the tribe of Asher 12,000,

from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,

from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000, Joshuas son

7 from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,

from the tribe of Levi 12,000,

from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,

8 from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,

from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

Joseph, not Joshua. But I see you got it right in your list. Manasseh was one of Joseph's sons. Ephraim was the other.
