What news media carries political weight where you are?

In the UK, the newspapers are the traditional champions of their chosen party. The TV news is obliged by broadcasting rules to be impartial, and the BBC, which should in theory be without bias, has been skewed by continuous threats to remove its funding which depends on a license fee, the existence and cost of which is determined by parliament.

The situation isn't helped that the populist newspapers, the 'red top' tabloids, are owned by non-domicile oligarchs who incline either to the right, the far right, or way off the scale.

But the point perhaps is, many people today get their political views shaped by media such as TikTok, X, etc ... to the point where one guest on a tv panel accused the whole news-reporting shebang of being largely irrelevant, and increasingly so for the younger generation who don't watch the mainstream tv channels or buy newspapers...

Newspaper readership is declining year by year for at least 50 years... tv is supposedly neutral but always suffers accusations of bias.

The issue for my generation is, tv and newspapers largely live in their own bubble of shrinking relevance...

For me personally the Media is the last place I would go to for unbiased truth.

Mmm .. the internet is responsible for the increase in choice of media, globally.
..so that is why govts. worldwide are beginning to tighten their grip politically.

For quite a while, the west was in the business of criticizing foreign govts. for their control of the
internet, but now feel that they need to do so themselves, albeit in a slightly different way.

I think this is true.
I think we are unilaterally informed by the media, naturally influenced by mainly rich rulers.
People should be normally, unbiased. Journalists and judges and Juries, and referees, must be unbiased and therefore they should not be sectaristic.

The media is used to serve us an image. But it is what they give to us, unfortunately a false image, to give us people a false picture of politics and their policy what they follow. I just keep it short now. But that's how I think about it. I never watch television myself.

Investigate online, try to find non biased info, if the vast majority are saying the same thing and it makes sense good

I'm thinking of looking into something called Ground News Ground News
You have to subscribe I just haven't yet.
Apparently they directly address media bias. If I understand, they collect material from many sources.
