Anti - Semitic

The OP was a respectful post, posted by a non-Jew asking primarily for Jewish responses.
The only response directly to the OP was, from a Jew who is an atheist and from some non-Jews as well as another Jew, who did not answer to the OP.
I am an American. There have been times when my country, its government and/or individuals in positions of power and responsibility have acted in ways that I have believed to be irresponsible and misuses of power. I have, at those times, spoken out and worked to correct what I have perceived as an improper course.

As a Jew Israel has a special place in my very being, but I recognize it to be a mostly secular state that is just as prone as any other state to having governments and individuals who operate in ways that are improper and offensive. I have no great love for Netanyahu and I do not see criticism of him or the state of Israel as being per se anti-Jewish. I have spoken out under those circumstances.

All too often, however, both in the past and currently, there have been tie-ins.

This is not one of those questions that can be answered in a 25 words or less manner. I think you appreciate that.
But sadly people keep treating this history like some sort of a black and white issue that they think can easily be solved. In the west this remarkable story isn't even taught to us in schools. The story of Israel becoming a country again is just a long remarkable story on its own. It's such an amazing series of events, yet hardly anyone knows the story. I learned a little bit about Israel becoming established as a nation again while researching the subject in high school. But I didn't finally learn the in-depth story until I traveled to Guatemala. I had no idea that Guatemala was instrumental in Israel becoming a nation again. And the citizens of Guatemala sure carried a lot of pride in this fact.

Sunrise and sunset describe two daily events in the way that they visually appear to happen. I don't have a problem with using that terminology, but it does not accurately reflect the reality of what is actually occurring at those moments.
In what way does sunrise or sunset not reflect the reality of the sun Ising over or falling below the horizon? !!
With that in mind do you have a clearer idea of what I was trying to say?
I have no idea about what you're trying to say.

I'm trying to come up with something that will be clearer to you as to my point. In the interim, if anybody believes they understand what it is I am trying to say, please feel free to jump in.

I think maybe he missed what wil said about terms we use that dont reflect reality? The sun does not actually rise and set.. the terms were created to reflect what It looks like at each time of the day. That is the only thing i could think of?

@badger If I understood correctly, @RabbiO is trying to point out that sunrise and sunset are descriptions based on visual impressions, as it looks almost as if the sun is an object going up then going down in the sky. But of course the reality is that the Earth is going around the enormous sun, so the sun is not in fact moving up and down in the sky at all.

But you would be wrong if you would suggest that the sun does not move......the Sun is travelling at an extraordinary speed itself.

The thing is, I am a small lifeform, and when the sun rises this affects my mindset, and probably yours. For me the Sun rises at dawn and sets at dusk......just as it rises less high in winter than summer. For me these happenings are real.

I expect that Google could tell me how long it takes for our solar system to complete a full orbit of the Milky way, but how exactly can that help me heating plans for next week? :)

That wasn't the point of my comment. At this point I think we can agree with Princess Elsa and "Let it go."

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your point or how it relates to the initial question...

Well this topic naturally at least edges onto politics.
Maybe you could share some of your thoughts in a shorter form?
Seems to me it is today more political than ethnicity or religious related. It multifaceted slur that is rendering itself meaningless as a word and just an insult used by ognorance.

When someone, angry about events in the Middle East, decides that the way to express that anger is to deface and destroy the mezuzas on the doorposts of a synagogue in the United States, that moves the needle off the political mark on the scale and onto the religious. When someone, angry about events in the Middle East, attacks a French Jew for being a Jew and spews venomous hate while doing so, that moves the needle off the political scale and onto the ethnicity.

As to your second sentence, could you provide a couple of examples so I have a clearer idea of what you're saying?

Again, I don't wanna violate getting into political discussions but I don't know of any govt whee all the people within that country agree with the all the govts actions...thinking that people outside the country either control or agree with govt actions is ignorant to me.
