Do you know about 2025 Kumbha Festival? This one is known as Maha Kumbha, because it comes once in 144 years (i.e., the current star combination).

People are visiting Allahabad (now named as Prayagraj) inseccently to take bath at the confluence of rivers, Ganges and Yamuna, where the legend says that a drop of nectar was spilled from a pitcher after the the churning of the ocean by Gods and Demons.

There have been three special days of bathing. 1. Makar Sankranti : 14 January 2. Mauni Amavasya : 29 January 3. Basant Panchami : 3 February.
Two more are scheduled: 1. Maghi Poornima : 12 February. 2. Maha Shivratri : 26 February.
On these special days the number of people who take bath is more that 20 million.

From my post in another forum:

"Maha Kumbha: Huge, unprecedented surge of religiosity, helped by modern transport and arrangements.
25 million people take bath on Vasant Panchami which covered two days, safely, meticulous planning.
Total from January 13 to February 3: 370 million, surpassing the population of United States.
The festival will generate something like 23 billion USD for the state."

By the end of the festival, it is possible that number of people who have taken the bath nears 500 million, nearly one third of the population of India.
Please note that some people stay in Prayagraj for a few day. So, they take baths every day of their stay.
(There was one stampede on 28th January in which 30 people were killed. The stampede seems to have been engineered by political opponents of the current ruling party)
