To believers in Taoism, who is your favorite religious teacher and why?

As the second post I've seen today...I must admit all I have done is read the te ching a couple times and of course the Tao of Poo and the Te of Piglet all of which were long enough in the past to deserve a revisit, so thanx!

A little perusing tho has made me order The Zhuangzi

Derek Lin. Although he is also a religious Taoist, his YouTube channel mainly deals with philosophical Taoism. He is Chinese, was born and raised in Taiwan, and is as fluent in English as he is in Mandarin. He is also quite expert in the Chinese of the Tao Te Ching (this is not true of many of the other translators of the TTC). His translation of the TTC has no equal. Ask me why and I may make the effort to answer. First, though, do you have any background in linguistics or modern translation theory? Knowing these things helps me formulate an understandable response. Lin was taught by actual Taoist masters. This shows in his broad and deep insight into the TTC and Taoism. I see many misunderstandings of Taoism/TTC online stemming from using less-than-optimal translations of the TTC, a less-than-qualified teacher (or none at all, or perhaps the Einzelganger channel on YouTube, a man who is mainly into Western philosophy such as Stoicism and merely dabbles in Taoism) Too many pet theories and cherished dogmas and 'insights' that do not hold up to scrutiny are everywhere as a result. I recommend the Derek Lin YouTube channel to all who are serious students (not dabblers) of the Tao.
