Pope Francis has died:

By all accounts, he seems to have had a very real interest and focus on ordinary people, which made him easily likeable and popular.

Of course, as one of my kids joked, because he died at Easter he'll be back in three days...

Maybe not, but he's left more of a lasting impression than his immediate predecessor, so it'll be interesting indeed to see the character of the one who follows Pope Francis. No doubt viewings of the movie Conclave will go through the roof now!

The way the pendelum swings, I would expect the next pope not to be so interfaith, as liberal as the one we just lost.

May he rest in peace.

sharing some words which resonate with me.
  • On Compassion and Mercy:
"A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just," and "The Lord never tires of forgiving. It is we who tire of asking for forgiveness."

  • On the Church:
"I see the church as a field hospital after battle. You have to heal his wounds."

  • On Inclusive Governance:
"Every man, every woman who has to take up the service of government, must ask themselves two questions: 'Do I love my people in order to serve them better? Am I humble and do I listen to everybody, to diverse opinions in order to choose the best path?'"

  • On the LGBTQ+ Community:
"Who am I to judge?" This phrase became a defining moment in his papacy, signaling a move towards greater inclusivity for LGBTQ+ individuals.

  • On Women's Rights:
"The struggle for women's rights is a continuing struggle."

  • On the Importance of Prayer:
"Prayer is not like a magic wand... how do you pray? Like a parrot? Do I really pray with a need in my heart? Struggle with God in prayer in order that he gives me what I need if it is right?"

  • On the Poor:
"Brothers and sisters, let us not forget that the poor cannot wait!"

  • On Hope:
"Many fears can dwell within us and terrible injustices surround us, but a new world has already been born
