Normally I see him disparagingly referred to as an anti-vaxxer, and anti-science, but this BBC indepth piece makes for a much more balanced consideration of his approach to challenging health issues in the US:

One criticism I'd make of the piece is that it claims RFK has made unscientific comments about chemicals in water and food potentially making people trans. However, I don't think the journalist is aware that for a long time it was talked about with alarm that our water and food contained a lot of "gender-bender" chemicals, which mimic oestrogen, and were already turning males of some aquatic species such as small fish into females.

Also, would be great if any discussion focuses on the health issues, rather than discusses party politics or social politics. I would hope his crusade against big pharma and banned food additives are worthy of comment.

Some aquatic species start out male, then, become female if/when the female dies or one of the males leaves the school to start a new one (clownfish, for example, in spite of what Finding Nemo "says"...)

Here are a couple of pieces more specifically about that:

Ive been interested in this topic most of my adult life. It started with fluoride and my daughter.. they gave me fluoride pills when i was pregnant for my unborn baby then after she was born a gross fluoride syrup with "vitamins". I didnt take either because i had an older hippie activist type neighbor who told me that it was a bi product of plutonium and they had to find a way to dispose of it. She told me it calcifies your pituitary gland and what she considered the third eye which imnot so sure about. But ok . Im not going to poison my child even if im not 100% sure of its truth. This was probably the first time i started to distrust my govt.

Then came GMO. I researched this and i try very hard to avoid GMO foods but its becoming increasingly more difficult.

Red dye 40. Good grief how many years has this issue been all over watch groups and the news.

Margarine and trans fats and telling us butter was unhealthy. Telling us that fat is unhealthy. Eggs??

The food pyramid. What a joke that was.

Vaccines. The first thing that rose the hair on the back of my neck was that they used aborted fetal tissue. Then the heavy metal toxicity. Wht are we goving newborns STD vaccines. HepB and later to our children HPV vaccines . The amount of vaccines they give children now is ridiculous.

When i was pregnant with my son they tried to prescribe me Paxil because i was emotional and there was some concern of post partem depression. I had this gut feeling not to take it due to disclaimer about not taking if breastfeeding. So in my head if i cant take while breastfeeding why is it safe to take when pregnant. Years later thera a class action lawsuit because of Paxil causing congential deformities in fetuses.

Yeah i have a lot of hope that RFK jr will address the issue of our health.

He (to me) is a classic case of a stopped watch being right twice a day.

He says soooo much that is blatantly, probably wrong....but...and this is a big BUT, he is taking the iron fist role against big pharma and big phood against flavorings and colorings and additives that Europe banned long ago....totally worthy.

He is a conspiracy nut crackpot, but some valid arguments get thrown into the conspiracy basket.

Yeah I think he's pretty much full of it. What is it about him in particular that makes him even remotely qualified for this position? Does he have any credentials in the healthcare field or human biology, whatsoever? What are his creds? Are they saying it's his background in environmental law? Aren't there hundreds of other people more qualified for this role than he is? Why is he even there?

However, I don't think the journalist is aware that for a long time it was talked about with alarm that our water and food contained a lot of "gender-bender" chemicals, which mimic oestrogen

This is the first time I've heard of gender-bender chemicals.

This is the first time I've heard of gender-bender chemicals.
Wording it that way sounds strange, but there is both speculation and research around the impact chemicals in the environment can have on fetal development in such a way as to be an influence on sex/gender characteristics.

Environmental contaminants, endocrine disruption, and transgender: Can “born that way” in some cases be toxicologically real?

I saw a video somewhere that showed short clips of the people in charge of departments of health all over the west. This included people all over Europe, U.S., Canada, and so on. Some were at the federal level, some were at the state level, and some were at the city level. The majority were overweight, many obese, and many looked like they were ready to pass out. The video ended with RFK Jr, who is 71 years old, doing pushups in his backyard with his shirt off. I'm not saying that this makes him correct on matters of health. But I'm going to trust his advice on health before I am going to trust these other people.

Interesting to see in the BBC's coverage of the latest actions by RFK finally - though quietly - mention that myocarditis has been recorded as a side-effect of the covid vaccine:

Against that there were a small number of cases of inflammation of heart tissue – called myocarditis – particularly in young men.

What it doesn't say, while generally definitely mRNA vaccines - is why something supposedly specifically targeted at a virus protein should also happen to cause devastating and life-changing effects to some people's heart tissue. It also doesn't even touch on why a large number of women would suddenly experience extremely heavy periods after the covid booster.

Plainly there is something we don't understand about mRNA vaccines, and that they are working differently than intended - which IMO makes it unscientific to continue to support them without question.

Not to say there.isnt some concern but from leeches on there hasn't been one medical intervention without side affects.

While we should never stop testing and research imo, some of the anecdotal evidence needs to be evaluated for correlation, causation or coincidence...you know shark attacks increase with ice cream sales? (Becuase both are affected by hot weather)

Currently my level of concern is that of flat earth and faked moon landings...reminds me, time for a booster.

side affects
Originally, there were officially no side effects from the covid vaccine, reports were censored, and any one who tried to draw attention to the issue was hysterically denounced as a conspiracy nut.

This is what really annoys me about the whole issue - the blanket censorship and dismissal of real issues that should have been a part of the conversation from the start. If that hadn't happened, there would be no lingering suspicion of the covid or other mRNA vaccines. Science is supposed to be about working with facts, not hiding them because they are inconvenient.

Also it's worth noting that originally it was claimed that the covid vaccine would prevent most people from ever catching covid and also stop them from spreading it. In the end, this these two claims have been proved false and abandoned, and instead it's simply stated that it helped prevent some people from experiencing some of the worst symptoms.

What I find odd is that you all lived through it - you all heard the news repeatedly telling you how you would be protected by the vaccine - yet even though this has been proven false and completely retracted, criticism of all this is somehow a non-issue, even a conspiracy? And even when it's found that this experimental vaccine doesn't simply target a protein on the covid virus, but also inexplicable targets some people's heart tissue, and also the hormone systems of woman, it's still seen as a conspiracy when advice that pregnant women and babies should no longer be injected with it is retracted?

In 2020 I was given medication I didn't need, didn't want, and already had a history of reacting to, but I believed reassurances that everything would be fine. Instead, my body completely burned out and now I'm disabled and can't leave the house without being pushed in a wheelchair. That was 5 years ago, and I am still fighting benefits agencies to have my condition properly recognized.

Which is why I especially take such a personal interest in this - it's not just that the people with myocarditis can be left disabled with severe fatigue like me, but because disabled people in general are a minority who are routinely overlooked, ignored, dismissed. People experiencing life-changing side effects from the covid vaccine were very actively overlooked, ignored, dismissed. IMO that's a social crime of inequality that should not be so easily dismissed.

Our recollections differ. There has not been a vaccine without side effects, or a vaccine that was 100% effective (my non professional non medical observations)

The vaccine had one goal....reduce deaths.

COVID-19 vaccine recommendations
COVID-19 vaccine recommendations have recently been updated for some populations. This page will be updated to align with the updated immunization schedule. Learn more.

Key points
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
You can protect against severe COVID-19 disease with vaccination.
CDC continuously monitors the safety of COVID-19 vaccines using several different safety systems.
Overview
COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. COVID-19 most often causes respiratory symptoms that can feel much like a cold, the flu, or pneumonia. Most people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms, but some people become severely ill. You can protect against severe COVID-19 disease with vaccination. CDC, working with FDA and other federal agencies, continuously monitors COVID-19 vaccines through several safety systems.

Available vaccines
Everyone ages 6 months and older should get an updated COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, there are two types of COVID-19 vaccines for use in the United States: mRNA and protein subunit.

Did you know?
These vaccines have been updated for 2024-2025 to protect against circulating variants of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Fully licensed FDA vaccines
Below are fully licensed COVID-19 vaccines.

Comirnaty is an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Pfizer, Inc. It is approved for use in people ages 12 years and older. It is a single dose injection.
Spikevax is an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Moderna, Inc. It is approved for use in people ages 12 years and older. It is a single dose injection.
Emergency Use Authorized vaccines
Below are COVID-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use by FDA.

Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is authorized for emergency use in children ages 6 months to 11 years.
Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is authorized for emergency use children ages 6 months to 11 years.
Novavax is a protein subunit COVID-19 vaccine. It is authorized for emergency use in people ages 12 years and older.

Vaccine Information Statements
Who should & should not get the vaccine
CDC recommends that people receive the age-appropriate vaccine product and dosage based on their age on the day of vaccination. Specific COVID-19 vaccine recommendations vary by group.

People ages 6 months and older
Moderately to severely immunocompromised people
Women who would like to have a baby
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
Long-term care residents
Common side effects
Vaccines, like any medical product, can have side effects. Side effects reported after COVID-19 vaccination vary from person to person. Most common side effects are usually mild, such as soreness in the area where the shot was given. Everyone who gets a COVID-19 vaccine may be monitored onsite for at least 15 minutes after vaccination (people who experience or have experienced non-severe allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccines may be monitored for 30 minutes).

mRNA vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna)
Pain, soreness, redness at injection site
Fatigue
Headache
Muscle pain
Joint pain
Chills
Fever
Nausea/vomiting (Moderna)
In infants and toddlers, common symptoms include irritability or crying, decreased appetite, and sleepiness.
Protein subunit vaccine (Novavax)
Pain, soreness, redness, swelling at injection site
Fatigue
Headache
Muscle pain
Joint pain
Chills
Fever
Nausea/vomiting
Keep in mind
If you had side effects (e.g., vomiting; shortness of breath; a red, itchy, swollen, or painful rash where you got the shot) within 4 hours of getting a COVID-19 vaccine, you can likely still receive the same type of vaccine at your next recommended dose (or your next annual dose). Your provider might recommend giving the vaccine in the opposite arm or observing you for 30 minutes after vaccination. If your doctor or healthcare provider thinks your reaction might be because of an allergy, they may refer you to an allergy and immunology specialist for additional care or advice.
Severe allergic reactions
Severe allergic reactions following vaccination are rare but can be life threatening. Signs and symptoms of a severe allergic reaction can include:

Anaphylaxis, a life-threatening reaction that needs to be treated with epinephrine (EpiPen) and that may require hospitalization. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, coughing, or wheezing.
Low blood pressure or rapid heartbeat
Swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat
A widespread skin rash that can itch, be red, or cause raised bumps (hives). Can also include general swelling of parts of the body (like the face, arms, or legs).
A rash in places like inside your mouth or nose. This requires hospitalization.
When to call 911
If someone has symptoms of a severe allergic reaction — which can include hives, swelling of the face and throat, difficulty breathing, a fast heartbeat, dizziness, and weakness — call 911 immediately.

If you had a severe allergic reaction after receiving a particular type of COVID-19 vaccine (either mRNA or Novavax), you should not get another dose of that type of vaccine. You will likely be able to receive the alternate vaccine type. Your doctor may refer you to an allergy and immunology specialist for additional care or advice.

In rare cases, people have experienced serious health events after COVID-19 vaccination. An adverse event (any side effect or health problem after vaccination that is concerning to you, even if you are not sure if the vaccine caused the event) can be caused by the vaccine or be a coincidental event that is not related to the vaccine, such as an unrelated fever, that happened following vaccination.

A closer look at the safety data
During the COVID-19 pandemic, COVID-19 vaccines underwent the most intensive safety analysis in U.S. history.
COVID-19 vaccines continue to be monitored for safety, even after FDA approval, to make sure they continue to meet FDA's standards for safety and effectiveness.12345678910111213
To date, the systems in place to monitor the safety of COVID-19 vaccines currently used in the United States have identified anaphylaxis and myocarditis or pericarditis as serious types of adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination. Other rare events, such as Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), are also monitored for and studied.

In 2020 I was given medication I didn't need, didn't want, and already had a history of reacting to, but I believed reassurances that everything would be fine.
I managed to avoid the vaccinations .. I have had a compromised immune system since
my late 30's.
..except on one occasion, where I was routinely pressurised, and I gave in .. I think it was in
2021.

Instead, my body completely burned out and now I'm disabled and can't leave the house without being pushed in a wheelchair.
I constantly feel 'burned out' as well .. I put it down to a number of factors .. including
historical episodes .. ptsd and so on.
I was diagnosed decades ago with M.E. (chronic fatigue syndrome ...).

It's a delicate balance .. I am consistently pressurised to get vaccinated for all sorts, now
being retired .. that is the job of a Gen. Practioner .. I usually refuse, but I believe that they
have my interests at heart i.e. they believe its in my interests
..so occasionally agree "go on then".

I need a GP .. I'm on medication, and have had the experience without one, having to go
to the hospital every few days, as they refused to prescribe more than one or two days worth.

That was 5 years ago, and I am still fighting benefits agencies to have my condition properly recognized.
Benefits agency has consistently turned me down .. I can walk 100 steps .. I don't need a
companion etc. etc.

..such is life .. there are worse places to live than the UK, imo.
