The internet seems like a tool to me... can be used or misused, just like most things...

Mixed feelings about AI, if used well they can be incredibly useful, but using them well is a skill in itself. I have to say though I have very mixed feelings about most humans too.

I quit news years ago myself...

It wasn't a popular decision. "You have to know what's going on in the world!" Why? I can't help any of it.

Absolutely, it wasn't doing me any good to read all the world's problems and feel powerless to change them. Much better to focus on my neighbourhood, where I can make a difference.

When i was in my 20s and 30s i used internet a lot, but now at 49 years old i gone bored of it, i don't fully need it anymore
 
I think our relationships with technology are complex and open to abuse. With me, it was vinyl; my mother, a television worshiper, has already been mentioned. In the nineteen twenties, my grandfather was fascinated by radio and would build his own sets. The key is the difference between enthusiasm and addiction.
AI, like a mobile phone, is a useful tool. When you can't imagine life without it, you have a problem.

I did buy a dumbphone and within this month will turn off my smartphone for ever.
My wife does have smartphone and laptop.

I never see any AI in my surfing. Except on art sharing sites. Unless you mean copilot and grok.

I am put off by the anger it sponsors in me and others. The web is a kind of fake heaven. A fake form of telepathy. Almost designed to put us off these things.
