Hello everyone.

I’m looking at improving the heating in my house before the colder months arrive and would like to hear what others are using. My current system heats some rooms well but struggles to keep the whole house comfortable, especially during very cold nights.

I’m considering options such as a gas furnace, electric heating, heat pumps, or upgrading insulation and windows first. For those who have recently dealt with house heating, what made the biggest difference in comfort and energy costs?

Are there particular systems that are easier to maintain and more reliable over several years? I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences, including installation and running costs.

I’d also like to know whether buying radiators online has worked well for anyone when upgrading their heating setup. thanks in advance for any help

When I moved into my house, the first thing I did was to lay insulation in the loft to stop heat being lost. I have also chaged my windows to double glazing.
I can't give you information about installation etc since I still have the same system as when I moved in 24 years ago, i.e radiator in each room heated by hot water. The only expense I have had in the last 24 years is the purchase of a new boiler. The previous one lasted 40 years.
