Gardener's Special Platter from Gooseberry Patch cookbook/Lisa Miller
I guess Gooseberry Patch was just the name of the cookbook. For some reason, I thought the vegetable platter was going to have a gooseberry sauce or glaze. That might be tasty.😋

EDIT: I guess gooseberry plants are illegal in some states in the US to protect local ecosytems, because the plants can carry some kind of pine blight
 🫤 o_O:confused:

EDIT: I guess gooseberry sauce is usually used for "oily fish" like mackerel🐟

Another "receipt" video! This time, it's from America's Test Kitchen, and includes a couple of them (one for breakfast taco board for a crowd and the other is for fresh blueberry pancakes):

Is anyone interested in this "receipt"?

Max Miller is talking about Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula, plus other aspects of Bram Stoker's time.

More "receipts" that might interest y'all (not from Max Miller!):

An autumn "receipt"?

Is anyone interested in it (I'm not due to allergies, plus I live alone with :kitty:s, and they probably would turn their noses up at the meat...) The "receipt" is for an apple cider roast beef (in case the video's taken down...)
*******************************************************************
This "receipt" is to make up for the meat one (liquor substitutions are mentioned [use equal amounts IIRC]):

The "receipt" is for a "deluxe" chocolate raspberry trifle (in case the video's taken down for whatever reason...)

Y'all might enjoy this (was posted on my LiveJournal feed):
J.D. Salinger popcorn salt

Ingredients:
6 tsps sea salt
2 tsps paprika
1 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp celery powder
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp marjoram
1/2 tsp curry
1/2 tsp dill powder

This is definitely going to have a bit of a kick to it! For me, I'm going to leave out the dill powder: I just don't care much for the taste of dill. You might also want to process this in a spice grinder or mortar and pestle as the thyme and marjoram can be on the large/leafy side if you want things down to a more uniform consistency.

A couple of "receipts" that might interest those without dietary restrictions (one is for a variation of chicken pot pie and the other is for "fisherman's pie", a British "receipt"):

you can get both the leafy bits or the powder of each at the store

Seems intriguing though, as popcorn seasoning.
I used to put pepper on popcorn.
I haven't made popcorn in ages.

From my LiveJournal feed (I apologize for the boldface):

Ingredients

  • Tagliatelle – 200g (for 2 servings)
  • Mushrooms – 200g (mix of chestnut, oyster, or shiitake recommended)
  • Bell peppers – 1 large (red or yellow), sliced
  • Garlic – 3–5 cloves, minced (adjust to taste)
  • Double cream – 150ml
  • Olive oil or butter – for sautéing
  • Salt & pepper – to taste
  • Fresh parsley or thyme – optional, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan – optional, for serving

🔪 Instructions

  1. Cook the tagliatelle in salted boiling water according to package instructions. Reserve a bit of pasta water before draining.
  2. Sauté the garlic in olive oil or butter over medium heat until fragrant.
  3. Add mushrooms and peppers, cooking until soft and slightly golden (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. Pour in the cream, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Toss in the cooked tagliatelle, adding a splash of pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  6. Serve hot, topped with fresh herbs and grated Parmesan if desired.

I'm not sure if y'all would be interested in this casserole (it features peeled, cubed russet potatoes, chicken or vegetable stock, milk and cream blend, buttered panko bread crumbs, along with seasonings.) Chef John calls them Country Club Potatoes...

A couple of the "receipts" could be vegetarian, while the dessert isn't (gelatin.)

The first two "receipts" here can be vegetarian/pescatarian, but the dessert can't (gelatin):
