u know, what vaj posted is great.

there is saying though, a very old one. when the student is ready, the master will appear.

in my case, this was very true, one day. short simple..wierd story. one day 3 years ago, i was 18, and i daily trained my body in simple things like pushups, crunches, running, stretching etc. at this point i had been obssesed with shaolin gung fu since i was 15, not only that but buddhism, taoism most things eastern etc one day on a online discussion forum, i posted a comment about martial arts(even though my experience was limited to a NHB fight club and judo as a kid and some tkd i picked up from a friend) and someone responded with i live in XXXXX why dont u email me and we can talk. long story short, this person claimed to be a sifu(teacher, father, master in cantonese) i told him i planned on moving to california(never did) to train with doc fai wong, he said good, hope i go. ended up never going. year and a half later, a friend of mine mentions this person from a year ago who contacted me trains his father in tai ji juan. i said, huh, thats wierd i talked to him over a year ago. turns out, the guy is very young, 30'ish, but he has more then 20 years in hung kuen, sun style taijijuan, and he fought competitvely in the UFC and in russia and in underground fight clubs. of course that sparked my interest, even though most here dont understand how rare it is to find a REAL master, who not only understands ever facet of the art but is competent and skilled enough to fight at the level he has. so anyway, i go and see him, i bring a friend of mine and we talked for close to an hour and a half. it was an amazing experience, personally, because the whole time he never held back any knowledge and he everything he responded with was a lesson. so i decided to follow him. i studied with him for the past 2 years, of and on. everyday i learned so much, and i rose quickly through the ranks of his students. he never held anything back from us. and he always gave more then any other teacher would have in the amount of time i spent with him. i can say this with complete certainty as ive met practitioners in various arts with 20+ years in their respective arts and they know very little.

in all, like i said, when your ready, the master will appear. in my situation, it was very wierd because not only was i ready at the time that he just 'happened' to move to my state all the way across the country, but he is also the genuine article.

so, my advice is be patient, study, practice zazen as much as possible and just be patient, you will meet the right person when you ready.

thanks for the different websites and numbers. ive checked out a few of them, but i live in augusta and the one in augusta couldnt understand me. i think the person on the other line didnt really speak english. but, i guess i just need to get back to atlanta. thanks again for all the help.
