The wife told me a funny workplace story the other night, but there's an underlying story to it you need to hear first.
I grew up fairly poor and like many in our community we had to make do. My mom though, carried frugality to new heights. I mean, she would actually clean and save paper plates after use! Thing of it is, we learn from our parents and to this day, I've been known to do the exact same thing on occasion.
Well, some of my eccentricities must have rubbed off on my wife over the years and that's where her workplace story begins.
So, the wife is having lunch in the break room with one of her coworkers, an older black lady. When my wife was finished, she takes her paper plate to the sink, cleans it and puts it back into her lunch bag. Meanwhile her coworker just sits there in disbelief and jokingly says, "Honey, here I thought you was a woman of color and you just poor white trash!"
