Nostradamus: Prophet, Seer, or Fake?

I think I heard something on a Discovery channel Nostradamus special (that is, I heard/read it somewhere, and I think that's where), that Nostradamus was forced to write so cryptically because at the time, prophets/seers were enemies of the church and an enemy of the church didn't live very long. So that's the other side to the very believable idea that if you write 900-and-whatever short paragraphs, a one or two of them will very accurately fit some event over the millenia. Which is true? I don't know.

Another note, Edgar Cayce commented about his own psychic predictions that humanity has free will and that nothing is set in stone. For those of you not familiar with him, he's mainly noted as a psychic healer/diagnostician and he did do amazing things (curing cancer, arthritis, etc. and that's nothing) with that, all heavily documented and some of his techniques 'discovered' by modern science years after the fact. I can get carried away on that topic, I'm sorry.

To get back to my point, in addition to the health things, he did 'give readings' on philosophical matters and future events. Literally, one can build a comprehensive philosophy on his work and the free will thing is an aspect of that. He said that there are tendencies that people have, courses of action and destinies that very likely will happen, but that nothing is stronger than free will, given by God.

For a well known example, world wide cataclysm has been prophesied by many different groups and prophets and let's say for the moment that they are all right and it is slated to happen. Cayce says that change in the consciousness of humanity could avert it. So, a 'prophet' maybe could be 100% right and still say things that never come true.

You are refering to "God " and the biblical concept as the " Truth " or the absence of a lie. The basically Judaic book, or books, which if subjected to an objective search as to origin, and some valid bit of information that proves these words were inspired by " God ". To study the bibles' objectively reveals a flat square world, the center of the universe, where all the heavenly bodies revolve around, and the different languages of man are described as a result of mans attempt to build a tower to heaven, mental illness is caused by demons, not structural defect and chemical imbalance. The Heaven, streets of gold with at least 144,000 mansions, 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of jews, and a multitude of others. The 6,000 year old earth, a world of kings and queens, servants, slaves, hirelings, and a never ending war resulting from " Gods Chosen People " taking what is rightfully theirs, the earth, beginning with the four corners. And later on down the line fully 1/3rd of all the tiny little stars up there will pelt down on the earth, causing problems for the chosen ones. then along came the profits prediction of the messiah, who would save the earth from the immortal devil, who rules the earth, and after losing a fight with God was thrown down on the earth, as a result from losing the fight, up there in heaven, where he had lived in paridise from time imortal. The entire tail of the jews and their god given right to rule over the others, requires unfaltering faith. The european and some extent the middle east was ruled by kings and a bishop, where the bible was indeed the foundation of law, which is with us still. In fact, we, as a peoples have abandoned nature and replaced it with fashion and law. In a world that was ruled by the king and his good bishop for some 1500 years where the common people were not allowed literacy, unless you took the route of sacrifacing your family for the church and could not reproduce or endanger the jewish kings. Then all hell broke loose. The common man became literate---It doesn't take a profit to predict the future. And the real seers are identified as being mentally unstable, murdered, incarcerated, or driven to suicide, lest anything they write endanger the status quo, the elitests, and their death grip on nobility and their slaves, cloaked with other names

The thing about it is that both Nostradamus and Cayce completely fail to relate anything about the intangible. They are all about the tangible, which is changeable.

Commenting upon what Jackie said: This is interesting, however this may be saying something simpler than what it sounds. It is in words from another age, a little bit alien to us. It is possibly not different from saying the mind rests somewhere between 'G!d and the physical'. For someone with no previous education on the subject of G!d, this comparison might have been given for their sakes, to make the idea of G!d more acceptable. The description outlines the mental mixture physical/non-physical conception and then asks you to take that to the n'th level just beyond what you can comprehend. Beyond that gate stands G!d, that which is completely spiritual, the unchanging perfection. The description really is progressing from the physical to the mental to the spiritual, and it seems to be a genuine missionary artifact. People naturally understand already that what takes place in imagination is physical yet intangible, so the stretch is imagining there could be anything of import that's beyond that (sort of like Math) completely intangible and unthinkable by us yet important. Nostradamus & Cayce flopped in this department. Instead they were about making our physical reality a part of the spiritual.

I didn't understand 'G!d, so I looked it up on the net, and am thinking you are refering to judaism 101' s long and drawnout description of what they say is the correct definition of God, the alpha and the omega of all things. I read with disdain, the linguistic fortitude in an effort to gain acceptance for their faith biased religion, using an ever changing series of languages that grow as our instrumentation changes. I am selective of the words left from the preliterate scribes left long ago, and what I believe to be with good reason. My truth is simply, the absence of a lie. I believe that ultimately only truth will come to exist, and that as words are what we use to formulate the logic we use to express ourselves, either verbally or written, I'm thinking along the lines that " God " was an ancient word ment to describe the truth, and regardless of the variations that preclude literary hypnosis and the chants used to make you believe in the " Chosen " people, " Holy Land " Idea, that God can only be described as pure truth, and that ultimately all else will perish in the shadow of truth. The fictional portions of the writings that made it past the various kings counsels, that became to be known as the Torah, etc, Bible, Quran, Hindu scriptures, Budda's ritualistic religion and all that are, ever were, and will be. Are not all lies and deception. Some are nothing more than transgenic truths, given the inabilities our languages have to describe reality, and the effect, ongoing instrumentation, has on our ongoing discovery of truth. The writings of the preliterate scribes cannot be understood by us, because of our instrumentation, which defines us, Its who we are, therefore the bible, being translated from numerous languages and cultures at a time when the anglo language consisted of only 40,000 words, compared to now perhaps 20,000,000 words and growing as our scientific discoveries are increasing on an increasing scale. I would only ask that you consider the possibility that the children, armed with one book, the cumlative intel of man (mostly) never predicted or prophicied by any judaic or other men of olden preliterate scribes. Their writings doesn't even make very good fiction, unless you belong to the criminal commercial gang trying for a one world government they control. I am saying the children will abandon their own ancestory, and join together, as one, in the search for truth, on the one book, on the same page, regardless of previous cultural predisposing influences and variables that will be played out in our search for truth, " The Real Everlasting God ". My visions, probably similar to many others, are one of the variables used to create the continuing unfolding reality that our languages are unable to describe, yet create the future of the realm within which our bodies reside, The many words that still exist in the realm of belief, yet have no basis in any form of logic, ethics, being totally without valid proof, yet control our very lives, if we want to be free, will all perish in time, and that very time is rapidly approaching. In a world where race, religion, color of skin, are insignificant variables considering whom we can become. It doesn't take a profit to predict the end of formal religion, pretending they have the words to see our spirits through time, and an understanding that we just didn't randomly occur, and that if we are to become what we can become, then a young person dedicate their lives in the search for real truth, each day being a celebration of nature and a chance to improve yourself, mentally, intellectually, spiritually and in whatever way you need to accomplish these goals, in a world unrestricted by nobility under other words, wanting us to become their human garden, the common man garden of good customers for their;Fashion, academia, newsmedia, sports, sex for pleasure, casinos, booze, cigarettes, and all the other goodies they live off of. They are finished, we will stop denaturing the earth, and will respect our neighbor, who is not a 'Mark'. and will go forward into a better place in time than we now exist in.
