Saw an interesting question posed elsewhere:

Many Christians like to point out that Jesus meets a lot of the requirements of the savior given in the Old Testament.

Throughout the entire account of his life he never fulfills one very important requirement. The savior was supposed to bring peace to the world, and the Roman empire would fall.

Not so much that the Roman Empire would fall, but that the Jewish people would be reunited in the land of Israel (biblical Israel - I'm not getting into the arguments whether the current political state is equivalent). Still correct, though that he doesn't accomplish it. Hence the emphasis on the heavenly kingdom as opposed to the temporal kingdoms - if you take it as establishing the heavenly kingdom, then he still qualifies as the Messiah according to doctrine. (Which leaves him having to come back to establish peace in the world.....)

Revelation says that Jesus will end up bringing peace to the world. does it not?

Well... Yes and no...
Was Jesus peaceable?
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you."
Acts 10:36 "The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ."
Luke 2:14 " . . . on earth peace, good will toward men."

vs.

Matthew 10:34 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household."
Luke 22:36 "Then said he unto them, . . . he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one."

yes Jesus will bring peace to the earth, even if there are those who fight against it ,those who fight against Jesus and his kingship may even be members of our own family matthew 10 ;34 and Jesus knew this, so he forewarned his followers about this ,he knew it would make for devisions he does not coarse the devisions the ones who fight against it do

yes you are right, and the whole of the bible is about the kingdom that will bring peace to the earth, and this heavenly kingdom goverment spoken of in Daniel 2;44 will have Jesus as its king:)
And he will certainly render judgment among many peoples, and set matters straight respecting mighty nations far away. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. They will not lift up sword, nation against nation, neither will they learn war anymore...micah 4;3

There is a concept that God can only do for us what he can do through us.

ie pray your prayers but move your feet...

Ghandi says...'be the change you want to see in the world'

ie quit your bitchin about others...move your feet...

What if the same were with Jesus?

He planted the seed, he did his deed, now it is up to us to take Jesus and his teachings into our hearts, into our being and do as he taught, become nonjudgemental, express love for one another....allow your Christ light to shine...

If we did what was asked of us...instead of blaming others...would that fulfill your prophecy? Maybe he did bring peace to the world...the only question is when will we realize it? Like the discovery of gravity or E=MCsquared...it was there all the time...it was upto us to realize it...

If so, let's start now..move our feet...

namaste,

we will each bring peace to this world when we remember who we really are ...Gilles Quispel, a noted scholar of Gnosticism, wrote: "The world-spirit in exile must go through the inferno of matter and the purgatory of morals to arrive at the spiritual Paradise".... what is our true origin, what is our true nature, what is our ultimate destiny .... "what makes us free is the Gnosis (knowledge)
of who we are
of what we have become
of where we were
of wherein we have been cast
of whereto we are hastening
of what we being freed
of what birth really is
of what rebirth really is

the person who intuitively receives accurate answers to these questions is receiving liberating Gnosis .... it is ignorance that keeps us enslaved, it is knowledge (gnosis) that removes ignorance and brings about liberation" (from the introduction by Stephan A. Hoeller to the book 'The Wisdom of the Knowing Ones')

over twenty years ago in a dream I was told "when we remember who we were, we will know who we are and we will be free" (I knew nothing about Gnosticism or Mysticism at that time) .... I interpreted that dream to mean that the answers lie within us and we gave away our power long ago when we started looking outside for the answers to our freedom and peace .... so my response to this question of who will bring peace, it is us .... and the Hopi Indians have a saying that translates "we are the ones we've been waiting for" .... maybe we are each a prophet and we need to return to wholeness and we need to return to balance .....just my thoughts to share .... he hawai'i au, pohaikawahine

you are right to say that people do not recognize this kingdom that jesus is king of, the presence of Jesus in kingly power is happening right now , the kingdom goverment was set up in the heavens in 1914 and that is the date that jesus was crowned king, and is invisible to our eyes, but the war of the great day of Jehovah is yet to happen , then the judging will start and Jesus is the judge and yes 1914 is the correct date because bible chronology and bible prophecy confirm it , as all Jehovahs witness are aware ,so if you are into bible prophecy you know where to go

actually the holy bible does not confirm that man-made date, just the watchtower magazine confirms it. anyway, jesus is the prince of peace--put your faith in him, believe in him, ask his forgiveness, and build up treasures in heaven rather than on earth. knowing that you are born again in christ is the peace and assurance that no matter what happens, you will be with him in paradise where he has prepared a place for you.

yes Jesus is the prince of peace. peace will only come to this earth through Gods heavenly kingdom goverment that Jesus is the king of ,and it means that we have to recognize that kingdom ,if we dont recognize Jesus as king of this kingdom it means we are fighting agaist the true source of peace , and that is never a good place to put one self .bible prophecy is now well along , what thrilling times we now are living in. the heavenly kingdom goverment will soon get rid of the opposers then there will be peace daniel 2;44 yes the prophecies about Jesus kingship have happened as all serious bible students know.

How about that King of Peace...Melchezidek, that Jesus is of the order of...that had unkown beginnings and endings...

Melchizedek was a type, or pattern, of Jesus in his priestly role,

since we do not know when Melchizedek died and so ceased to serve as priest, in that respect he served without any known end.

the Bible record does not give details about Melchizedek’s family lineage—his ancestors or any possible descendants. That information is just not a matter of Biblical record

there was a similarity between Melchizedek and Jesus. How so? Jesus was not born in the tribe of Levi, the tribe for priests in the nation of Israel. No, Jesus had not become a priest through human genealogy. Neither had Melchizedek, who had not become a priest by being born into a priestly tribe and family. (Hebrews 7:15, 16) Rather than becoming a priest through a human father who had himself been a priest, Jesus had "been specifically called by God a high priest according to the manner of Melchizedek."—Hebrews 5:10

one can also see by example that abraham recognized and honored the high priest who gave him blessings and abraham gave him tithings.

so getting back to Jesus , and the peace that will come about through his rulership

For any nation and any kingdom that will not serve you will perish; and the nations themselves will without fail come to devastation ..isaiah 60 12

And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away....revelation 21;4
If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, among whom the god of this system of things(satan) has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through...2 corinthians 4;3-4

All your sons will be persons taught by Jehovah, and the peace of your sons will be abundant.—ISAIAH 54:13

After these things I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands. And they keep on crying with a loud voice, saying: "Salvation [we owe] to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb....revelation 7;9-10........... no worries because we can enjoy peace if we recognize Jesus kingship ,because he is the king who will bring peace to the earth
