Sea of Reeds vs. Red Sea

Upper Egypt was in defiant rebellion. Egypt's Canaanite protectorates were left defenceless as the troops returned to Egypt. This explains why they were so easily conquered later on by the Hebrew Army after 40 years of battle hardening experience.

All of this would be compatible with the loss of the Pharaoh and his army. I would like to see more divers looking for remnants of Pharaoh’s army in the Red Sea or the Sea of Reeds (more likely a direct route from the city of Rameses site.)

The Book of Exodus describes Moses following a cloud of smoke by day and a column of fire by night. In 1625 BC, the island of Santorini's volcano Thera erupted in a massive volcanic event. The area contains the convergence point between 4 tectonic plates with subducting zones. One major fault line is the Dead Sea fault that may have destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

This huge eruption destroyed Santorini in the Aegean Sea, quakes extended for hundreds of miles in what geologists call an Earthquake storm. One quake causes another, and another, etc. Huge subduction zones may cause giant waves or Tsunamis, and they can cause Mt. St. Helens type volcanic eruptions. This could have manifested as a wave of water emptying the Sea of Reeds or Suez Lakes and lowering the water temporarily. Then the Tsunami would come with perhaps a wave 50-100 metres high.

Thera had erupted giving off a column of smoke and fire. If the Hebrews were following the column of Fire from the volcano, they crossed the Sea of Reeds or Sinai Lakes. The water would recede emptying the Sea of Reeds and lowering the lakes temporarily. Then the Tsunami would come with perhaps a wave 50 metres high. To the Hebrews this was a miracle allowing their crossing to Sinai and higher ground. They reached the other side safely. If Pharaoh’s chariot army pursued them across the mud flats, possibly getting bogged down, they then saw that 50+ metre wall of water rushing fast over them.

There are several conflicting dates for Thera and the Exodus. I think the differences could be a simple error in calculating the actual dates.

American sources show a president Roosevelt? who was stabbed to death in the Forum on the Ides of March, followed by his son Charlemagne, and then there was Alexander the Great, who started the War Between the States during which the Crusaders sank the Spanish Armada...

I was commenting on Amergin's hashing together of random Egyptian names and events from thousands of years apart.

I'm very drawn to the concept of "crossing over" or "the crosser" because
that is ultimately what we must do (in my opinion _ I don't want to come across as dogmagtic) through meditation and deep prayer to go to that place where we meet g-d face-to-face. Whether we cross over the river styx or cross over the parting sea, it is the same symbol. All myths and legends and our stories have four levels of meaning - it is the deepest and most sacred where we seek to awaken our souls. The chosen ones have the knowledge to lead the way. If we stop looking at how we are different and begin to look at how we are the same, maybe some of the walls that divide us will fall away. Yes, our ancestors live beyond the river and we must cross over to meet them.

In "The Secrets of the Future Temple" by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto it is stated "The plan of creation is that G-d should be revealed to all His creatures on all levels. Moses' greatness lay in his power to rise to the highest levels of prophecy ever achieved and b ring his vision "down" so as to make it accessible to people on far lower levels. Thus Moses brought the Children of Israel to a state where "at the crossing of the Red Sea a simple maid saw more than Ezekiel", while at the Giving of the Torah at Sinai, G'd "opened up" all seven heavens to the Children of Israel (Mechilta on Exodus 15:2 and 19:11). The "soul" of the Torah revealed at Sinai was the prophetic visions of the inner workings of the universe together with the prayer-power it gives to those who attain it.

In other words (my thoughts) those that "cross over".
