For those believing in the Christian idea of heaven...

well then, this is the bibles idea of heaven for that small number who will be doing Gods will. they are going there for a reason, and that is to rule as kings and priests with Jesus christ(rev 5;10)

Revelation 14:1, 4, 5; 2:10 the rest of us , will live on a paradise earth

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more. I saw also the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away(rev 21;-1-4)

I believe there's various grades of the Heavens, kinda like the various places of the world, each and every place looks and feels different. Each one has certain entities, angels, and even people in it. An example of this would be like in the 2 books of Enoch, where the angel takes him to various heavens. The Revelation of Isaiah (Vision of Isaiah) would be another example. I believe in a highest Heaven where the ultimate spirit of the Good God sits enthroned in Majesty with the Christ and the archangel Michael on each side. All the angels sing and praise sweet songs in eternal bliss. There are 9 or 10 heavens in all. The 2 lowest heavens are not those of the Good God, but of the Demiurge and his angels. The firmament, outer space, and the atmospheres are present with various angels and demons operating the universe, trying to mimick the Most High. ;)

Whenever the Bible describes either something too horrific or too beautiful to describe with words, it uses images.
This is also my opinion on the matter. Like comprehending God, comprehending what the Kingdom of Heaven is like is beyond human capacity. We can catch glimmers of what it is like, and speculate on what the Kingdom of Heaven is and what the images mean. I believe the images in the Bible of heaven and hell are helping people understand the horror of being without God's presence, and the bliss of being within it.

As a mystic following Christ, I have received personal visions of what heaven means to me, but even those I recognize (with God's blessing of wisdom) as images that help me understand God and the Kingdom of Heaven, and to grow closer to the truth. Heaven for me is simply being in God's presence, fully in it and without restriction to our senses and regular patterns of thought. I believe that the Kingdom of Heaven is immanent, and accessible even while living, as being in the absolute joy and peace of a moment in which time and the world fade away and all that is left is God. My own visions have taught me that the mere feeling of eternity and infinity, of the pure love of God, of letting go of my attachments to self and this world and even my pre-conceived ideas of God, are wondrously blissful. No parties, banquets, streets paved in gold, or rulership needed for me thanks. Never liked them here anyway. If anything, a deep forest would be my paradise, but heaven is purely a state of consciousness at one with God.
