Passings

Alan Rabinowitz passed away earlier this month at the tender age of 64.

"Who?" you ask?

He was a founding member of Panthera Corporation, a nonprofit organization devoted to the preservation of the big cats, plus he was instrumental in the study of wildlife conservation (including a legitimate jaguar preserve in Belize.) He also studied lesser-known human communities.

Here's more information about him: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Rabinowitz

I went to visit a friend whose father passed.... His dad was a NASA engineer....retired but had worked on major projects his entire career....his early work was in the 50s setting up satellite tracking systems... https://www.nrl.navy.mil/vanguard50/own_words.php his home is full of awards, citations and memorabilia including pieces that went to space and came back, from the moon, satellites, capsules and shuttles. Time marches on, this man has made an influence on many people here on earth, and left many things that will be working in space (or at least flying around) long after we all have gone...

William "Bill" Coors passed away at the tender age of 102.

"Who?" you ask?

He was the grandson of Adolphus Coors, the founder of Molson Coors Brewery, as well as the one who introduced aluminum cans to beer distribution. He also remained "on the job" as a taste tester until he reached the century mark.

Here's his obituary: https://www.dailyherald.com/article/20181013/news/310139875

I wasn't sure if this would be the proper thread to post this or if Media Star thread would be...

Um, stupid question here...

When Brian May passes, where would his notice be posted on the forum? He's both a d@mn good guitarist and a real "rocket scientist" (he earned his PhD in astrophysics.) :kitty:s and I'd like to know.

Gee... what have you heard? Hate to jump the gun on anyone's demise, but I should imagine in May's case media star gets the nod on both counts.

He's not pushing up daisies yet, but he's not living forever. Heck, he's still composing and helping with the data retrieved from both Saturn and Pluto.

Michael Collins passed away April 28th at the tender age of 90 from cancer.

"Who?" you ask?

You might be more familiar with a couple of his colleagues: Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. While his colleagues were on the surface, Collins was alone orbiting the moon, performing his own series of experiments. Here's his Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Collins_(astronaut)
