Have you seen the little piggies crawling in the d
In Genesis, god proceeded to decree...

"Because you have done this thing, you are the cursed one out of all the domestic animals and out of all the wild beasts of the field. Upon your belly you will go and dust is what you will eat all the days of your life."

So this doesn't seem much of a punishment? Unless at one point, snakes had legs? But anyway that isn't what I wanted to discuss about it.... God says "what YOU have done." I understood that the snake was used as a puppet via Satan? So..... How is a simple snake that was "bewitched" and used as a puppet for trickery to blame? Yeah it seems I am questioning gods' judgement.... I just want to understand this judgement... Also it isn't strickly true if he is saying the snake will be the only creature to crawl upon it's stomach.... What of the worm, slug and so on? But yeah, mainly... Would be interested in seeing peoples opinions on the punishment... Left it in the abrahamic religion area... Open to thoughts from all.

Tis a metaphor for what occurs when one is in league with the devil (the negative aspect of your consciousness, the adversary).

We are not punished for our sins but by them.

I don't see G!d as dispensing punishment, again metaphor, G!d is the law, in this case, the law of reciprocity.

So what is with the "You will crawl upon your body for your entire existance!!!" I just don't see the metaphor? Or get "it"...

Like if you crossed me... And I come to you and say right buddy, that's freaking it! You will walk upon your two feet for your entire existance!!! How you like them apples?! What've I done? Apart from state something you already do? Explain a bit more for me please?

Every scripture, metaphor, analogy, parable, has an exponential number of interpretations. These interpretions depend on what has occurred in your life, and what your interpretation of what has occured in your life. You read the same scripture 10 or 100 different times over the course of your life and you will read it different ways, gather new information.

Hence I can't say what it will mean to you. Contemplate...you are G!d, Adam, Eve, the snake, the devil, the garden, the apple...even the tree. How does each of these relate to you when you view it from your perspective. What insights do you receive from the story?

Someone describes a problem to another and asks, "What would you do if you were in my shoes?"

the only real answer... "If I were in your shoes I would do what you would do."

We each lead a different life, the old teach a man to fish comes to mind....

Good question.

Thats a great idea, Will. Putting myself in the place of each... That's good I like it.

I'll also add: Remove the assumptions. Maybe the serpent lost wings and not legs? Have we seen a judgment like this one somewhere else? Pretend you had never heard of the word serpent and had no dictionary. If you searched a concordance or some Bible software, what definition would you come up with on your own? Another question that naturally arises from this line of questioning is 'What is Satan'? No assumptions = no prisons.
Genesis 4:7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is couching at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it."

Luke 22:3 Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve;

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world -- he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
