It is for fun, for profit, and to keep the proverb fresh in the mind. The idea is to select and post short (short please) quotes from Proverbs in any serious English translation.

Theme:
Proverbs 1:2-6
That men may know wisdom and instruction, understand words of insight, receive instruction in wise dealing, righteousness, justice, and equity; that prudence may be given to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth -- the wise man also may hear and increase in learning, and the man of understanding acquire skill, to understand a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their riddles.

30:2 Surely I am too stupid to be a man. I have not the understanding of a man.

For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it.PROVERBS 2;21-22

17:8 A bribe is like a magic stone in the eyes of him who gives it; wherever he turns he prospers.

The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge. Wisdom and discipline are what mere fools have despised.
proverbs 1;7

A fitting proverb stimulates thinking, imparts understanding, and can motivate one to do what is right.

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. - Proverbs 20:27

21:22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty and brings down the stronghold in which they trust.

Turn back at my reproof. Then to you I will cause my spirit to bubble forth; I will make my words known to you.
proverbs 1-23

Proverbs 2:1-5:
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
This is actually my favorite Proverb, I've used it to guide myself for a long time now.

Proverbs reminds us that Jehovah’s eyes "are in every place, keeping watch upon the bad ones and the good ones." (Pr 15:3)

One knowing Jehovah realizes through knowledge and experience that, as Proverbs 21:30 says,

"there is no wisdom, nor any discernment, nor any counsel in opposition to Jehovah."

Therefore, though he may hear other plans or have them in his own heart, the sensible person will direct his way of life in harmony with the counsel of Jehovah, knowing that contrary counsel, no matter how seemingly wise or plausible, cannot stand against the word of Jehovah.—Pr 19:21
