Out of the Mouths of Babes:

Folks that have premonitions from time to time seemingly have little control over it. Especially when it comes to personal gain of a monetary nature.
It does seem that way. Then again, if I had a premonition that could potentially net me a boat load of cash, damed if I'd tell anybody.

He said, "After you die, your body goes in the ground and your mind gets divided up among the people that loved you when you were alive. Then, you use their eyes to see everything again."
My Grandnephew said this when he was 5. He's now 11 and claims to have no recollection of it. This past weekend he and his mom were over and the subject of the hereafter came up again. This time however, it was my Grandnephew that brought it up, wanting to know what happened when the cycle of life was complete.

I gave him a brief overview of both the Christian and Hindu perspective. I expected there to be some confusion in his mind and prepared myself for the inevitable barrage of questions. Instead, he accepted that there were differences in the two beliefs and responded by saying, "Oh, ok it seems like God has that all worked out for us either way, so I won't worry about it anymore."

Advice we would all do well to follow.......

When you say retired.... does that mean she still lives on the farm and the farm will take care of her for the rest of her life?
Yeah. Like I said, her and her family have worked our farm for generations. Still do. They look after us, we look after them.

Cheeky little devil. I think I liked his first version of life after death better. Continuing to live our lives through the eyes of our loved ones.

I rather liked that assessment myself. I think I know where the idea came from. At my mom's funeral, the Priest giving the eulogy said that her memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. Apparently my Grandnephew, being 4 at the time, took it quite literally and assumed the departed would continue to experience life through the eyes of the living. Who knows?

Children can come out with the most cryptic of comments, my grandchildren certainly do.

Start up the thread...see where it goes from there... I have some interest...I quite enjoyed your fine country, didn't make it out west though...

I'd be interested in that thread. Curious how your thoughts fit in with what I know about New Zealand Maori beliefs.
