We have a "Like" option to voice approval of posts. How about balancing it out with a "Dislike" option to voice disapproval? Perhaps we could even add something like, "Nice" or "Heartfelt" to the mix for those times when a simple "Like" just doesn't say enough.

Idk the forum programming options...

I believe we switched systems in the middle somewhere.

The whole liking thing was put on temporarily at first ... Concerns over club mentalities using likes (or dislikes) as some kind of self aggrandizing competitive thing that has happened in other forums...

There was discussion of having to put a governor of sorts on...so one person could not total more than 10% of anyone elses "likes" to eliminate "like" fests between a small group to elevate their 'status'

All makes for interesting intrigue.

Fb did sort of just what you suggested not long ago...and while they added various emoticons dislike was avoided (YouTube uses it though)

Our options are limited by the current forum's programming. I can take like off entirely, but not limit the amount any person can use it. I also cannot add anything like a dislike or disagree option.

The 'Like' button is of limited value anyway. Far better to like a post and then respond with your thoughts on why you like the post. Otherwise what 'like' means is "Yep that is the way I think". After all how many of us like posts we completely disagree with. I have done it a few times when I thought someone wrote an especially thoughtful post even though I completely disagree with it. It is the exception rather than the rule though.

Oh yes... I've been slammed eloquently more than once... Completely.disagreed with the post and the conclusion... But couldn't help but like the method without avarice or needles.

Ok mate. It was just a thought. I'd rather keep the "Like" in that case. Better than nothing I suppose.
