    God in an infinite space

Aren't most (if not all) conceptions of an infinite God of an infinite creator god? I.e he made the laws of physics and therefore there can't be any he doesn't know. Perhaps infinity simply means beyond human knowledge, experience and imagination.

    God in an infinite space

I suppose I should have quoted the specific thing I was questioning: I don't follow this specifically. I understand that you don't think God is infinite (neither do I, or more accurately, i don't think gods are infinite) however, how does the idea of a god being infinite suggest it wouldn't...

    God in an infinite space

Quick disclaimer: I'm a polytheist so the whole question is somewhat moot for me, but hey here we go anyway.... :p Why would an infinite god not know himself?

    Unless God is infinite himself.

    another life

For me re-incarnation simply feels right. There is so much to do and learn, reincarnation allows me to accept I can't do everything in this life - there's always the next one! So far from exhausting, I find the idea calming.

    God as a placeholder

They believe because they think it's true. The same way they believe in gravity and the necessity of oxygen. We need belief about the things we don't understand, but that doesn't just apply to theists. Thanks for explaining the placeholder idea - I've never come across the phrase before. :)

    God as a placeholder

Sorry but I don't really understand what you mean by placeholder? Do you mean 'middle man'? :o There is no such thing as a state of non belief. Atheists believe there is no God. However I agree that it's irritating when people assume that only the religious can be good people. I don't think...

    clematis addict

Both hobby and work :) I have never tried to propagate Clematis I'm afraid but I would try cuttings as they will produce an identical plant. I shouldn't think a greenhouse would be necessary - a cool windowsill (one not in direct sun or over a radiator, north facing ideally) would probably be...

    clematis addict

Clematis are great - I think my favourite is 'Etoile Rose'. I also love Clematis tangutica. My favourites are the types which have fairly small elegant flowers and are followed by the beautiful fluffy 'old man's beard' seedheads which are so good in autumn flower arrangements.

Can I have you for dinner?

Lol... you joined as Noctuary's boyfriend and you title yourself a fundamentalist from Egypt. :p Unless she has several fundamentalist boyfriends from Egypt...?

    Moving forward

That's great MW. It's always nice to read something positive rather than the same old news about people doing bad things... :)

    mystical/visionary/peak experiences

Sounds confusing - and hard to pronounce :p... Do you have a belief in individual and separate deities then? Does your guru figure have literal existence? Could you use a fictional character?

    mystical/visionary/peak experiences

Dude!  Ahem.... that completely threw out my train of thought.... Actually I was considering posting somewhere about a vision-type-thang i had recently when I spotted your thread. Recently I have gotten myself in a bit of a mess spiritually by thinking so much...

Your beliefs: what are they REALLY?

Hmm I got stuck on question one. There's no option for polytheists, except soft polytheism. How irritating.

    The Cunning Arts....

But surely the conversion to Christianity of the people of the British Isles involved conversion of those who were already there, with a few newcomers in the form of missionary monks. The pagan Anglo-Saxons didn't ship out back to the lands they came from to make space for the Christians, they...
