are 'atheists' taking over buddhism?
Perhaps they are, since it is the one "religion" which Richard Dawkins didn't criticise heavily in "the God Delusion".

mmmm....both.
Marise Ruthvern's book is well written and fairly unbiased. He traces the root of the term in American churches and its adoption to cover many other beliefs, whether secular or religious, so yes Fundamentalist Atheism is a possibility.
I haven't read any of Dawkins' other books...
The God Delusion Richard Dawkins
This book sort of brought me to this site - searching for the grey bits between the black and white
Fundamentalism The search for meaning Malise Ruthven

Culture, land, power and religion ! Yes it is sometimes difficult to step outside ones own culture and religion especially if traditions go back far enough. It is very glib to say "when we all believe in the same God, why the disputes " when history and tradition go deeper. I often think places...

Actually , I have to declare that my background and my religion from childhood is closely linked to cultural loyalties. I was brought up in Ireland, which has had its history and disputes which somehow combined Religion with social groupings. Church leaders in the past have often enflamed these...

from publishers...
Mee, I am suprised that you are giving so many links to a particular religion's website. If one googles Jesus you get all the different points of view so as to form ones own opinion - and there is always Wikipedia
