    What I believe.....

Sorry GK. Okay, ""How it is possible to come up with a consistent pov if one believes everything is true/false? (tralse?). The outcome seems to be one's pov is there is no pov." I believe I answered this... there is a point-of-view and it is probably unique to every individual. Now the...

    What I believe.....

If one was to substitute "untestable" or "unfalsifiable" for indescribable, this is very close to quantum.

    What I believe.....

Of course... we Friends do not have a dogma (even my claim of group experience is not a dogma). I was pointing out that my experience of g!d is "in line with" the Founders of Friends (Fox and Naylor were really the first generation's exemplars) and the XXth century Friends mystics Jones and...

    What I believe.....

"Yes everything is both true or false, depending on perspective" is true if and only if there is and implied and/or. Why is this a disconcerting pov, GK? I seem to sense a person of reason and science behind your posts. The notion of and/or true/false is pretty basic to both quantum and...

    What I believe.....

A couple of things. I like ACOT's idea of interpretation. Pretty close to my view... everything is both true and false (really a combination) and our job is to go through life and do the best that we can at coming up with a consistent pov. Yeah, I know it sounds a trifle weird and...

    What I believe.....

Correct from a psychological point-of-view. What does that have to do with either Homer or "wild children" (where the term or concept of self-consiousness is entirely missing)? Nothing. Your comment may be pertinent to Western children, it is entirely off-the-mark in terms of my references.

    What I believe.....

Self awareness is a little too exclusive I believe. Try looking up "Qualia", the thing that we ar conscious of. Without teaching (" told what their awareness is") we would not have self awareness. Forinstance the concept is very, very foreign to Homer and most "wild children".

    What I believe.....

I believe they visit all the time (see any site on RSF or Quaker theology). The logic is the same reason I believe in Gödel’s Theorem, I can experience it. Originally Posted by Gordian Knot. Yes. Scientific Miracles From Quran

Again, quite well put! I looked up all the references in Ali's THE HOLY QURAN (he speaks to a westerner better than most translations I have read).

    Someone explain this to me

Yep, remocrat, those who hold some kind of unprovable and (more importantly) unfalsifiable dogmas strain my patience!

    Free will is an oxymoron

Ah, see, modern physics does neither endorse nor dismiss free will. Problem with all those in the "illusion" camp.

Great at Prophecy, Stink at Timing?

Great link wil! Seen the film? They showed it here in Yellow Springs. That is precisely the reason I differentiate between “Religion” and “religion”… The former indicates something stuck in the exoteric and temporal. The latter is esoteric and beyond space-time. By the way, GK, this is why...

    Rotating universe

Each "universe" in the "multiverse theory" just is. Like this universe, it began as (probably) a creation-from-nothing quantum event. Remember, the Heisenberg uncertainty relation allows the creation of something (energy-matter) from nothing at all. The mass-energy of each multiverse is...

    What I believe.....

Gee, sorry Paladin, now that I read Thomas my judgment does seem a little harsh. What I am really trying to say is that I think we need to ease off on attacks (and I admit I am one of the worst). I, like Paladin, believe in the scientific method. However, my area is physical science, his...

    Rotating universe

Aup, Not really, it it what most physicists claim to hold, just do a google scholar search on "multiverse" since 2013 (over 1,000 hits).

    Ontologischer Beweis

GK, you are correct. The assumption is that Gödel's Proof is proof that is beyond the realm of mathematics... not what he claimed at all.

So whats the deal with Hinduism and Atheism?

Thanks, Aup. Narayanan is a philosopher from a Hindu background. Wrote (writes?) a lot about the history of Hinduism.
