How can we get to know God better? One way is by observing the things he has created and thinking deeply about what they tell us.

God's creations show us that he has great power and wisdom.

We see his love in all that he has made.
PSALM 19;1-6 ROMANS 1;20
Another way we can learn about God is by studying the Bible. In it he tells us much more about the kind of God he is. He also tells us about his purpose and what he wants us to do.AMOS 3;7 2 TIM 3;16-17

This, to me, talking of the contemplation of nature, as well as the contemplation of Scripture. We talk of this as two ways of coming to know God, and the 'two wings' on which the soul might ascend to the contemplation of divine things.

However, elsewhere you say:

Which surely contradicts the first statement, because if we think about things, we cannot help but 'image' or 'picture' them in our mind. Visible things become the symbol of invisible things ...

That is the meaning of Christian iconography.

How do you resolve the contradiction in thinking/not thinking?

"His invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable."—ROMANS 1:20.



Raise YOUR eyes high up and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who is bringing forth the army of them even by number, all of whom he calls even by name. Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one [of them] is missing.
isaiah 40;26


when we look up at the stars and see the things that the most high JEHOVAH has created we can see that JEHOVAH is powerful indeed, and it is to him alone the glory should go , what power he has , DYNAMIC ENERGY:)




"You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created."REVELATION 4;11



at the end of the day we should be worshiping the creator ,not the created.






saying in a loud voice: "fear God and give him glory, because the hour of the judgment by him has arrived, and so worship the One who made the heaven and the earth and sea and fountains of waters."revelation 14;7


Yes JEHOVAH is the one that should recieve the glory ,not some image made up from man .



JEREMIAH explains it nicely


In no way is there anyone like you, O Jehovah. You are great, and your name is great in mightiness. 7 Who should not fear you, O King of the nations, for to you it is fitting; because among all the wise ones of the nations and among all their kingships there is in no way anyone like you. 8 And at one and the same time they prove to be unreasoning and stupid. A tree is a mere exhortation of vanities. 9 Silver beaten into plates is what is brought in even from Tar´shish, and gold from U´phaz, the workmanship of a craftsman and of the hands of a metalworker; their clothing is blue thread and wool dyed reddish purple. They are all the workmanship of skilled people.​

But Jehovah is in truth God. He is the living God and the King to time indefinite. and not forgetting the true God as well

This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, AND of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. john 17;3



the true God is JEHOVAH PSALM 83;18
That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah,
You alone are the Most High over all the earth.
psalm 83;18​

Taking in knowledge of the true God and the one he sent forth, is what it is all about , and its all in the bible :)
 
I would put two ways as giving and receiving:

1) receiving: by prayer and worship
2) giving: by putting faith into action

Indeed, faith without works is dead, and works without faith is trash. And Thanks giving is a must.
