The human person

Only in the secular mind ... this separation came about as a result of the Enlightenment, which declared religion to be superstition, and insisted that man could shape the cosmos according to his own image.

Say What?!?!?!?!? It was religion that demanded the shape of the cosmos be based according to its own image. Which is where we got the earth is the center of the universe and a ton of other equally incorrect information.

Two different things. Traditions have always seen the world as a very ordered place where humans are at the mercy of their environment, nature and station. In many faiths and in many ways humans are a very central part of this cosmos but they have no control over it.
With the rejection of these constraints, that is the Enlightenment, we have lost much of our importance in the grand scheme of things but we are free to master the world around us. At one time Icarus was used as a cautionary tale for reaching too greedily, a tale that is out of place in our western society where such ambitions are praised. Two notions of the world with their own baggage.
