Global waning

[quote-Netti]I suspect they're more prepared than any other country given their level of technical competence in the area of flood defenses.[/quote]

That's true enough based on what one of my Dutch friends has said, but they're already aware that the changes they'll have to make will be radical. It won't be the same Netherlands that we know today. The measures they've already taken, like those long ditches for the water, won't be enough as sea levels rise.

They are not prepared lol.... They have done much yes... But they haven't done enough, so they are not prepared... Surpsiing really how much work and time and money that has gone into gates and bridges and waterbrakes and devices to guide/channel ocean away..... They are the most elite engineers I've seen.... Yet nature still is undefeated... And cannot be stopped.

They all need to buy floating house properties!! Cause they are just awesome sit on your porch looking out to the ocean smoking on a dooby.... and just be like FTW?!!

They all need to buy floating house properties!!

I thought that's in their plans, floating homes anchored to the ground.

They are allready in operation, and I must say I am tempted to get one lol.... They are suprisingly big inside, and from even rapid increase/decrease of water levels they are very smooth.

But, some have suggested the levels may become too much in depth to anchor them down, they are on this like pole/anchor system which is connected to a dock(?) if that is the word... but I guess depend on how high that water gets... They may have to re-evaluate... And as we know... a hefty % of the land will go *poof* and be consumed by the ocean.

I forget what they are called (my bad)( but there are these two works of art, beautiful engineering... They are like two arcs that inter act with each other? They need to make a giant, giant......... Giant one of them.... That is an effective bit of kit, just not big enough...(oh and high maintance... lol)

Cataclysms happen.
But people will endure.
I think we have gone through such a thing more than just a time or 2.

Cataclysms happen.

In the news recently was the science report that a comet or series of comets 13,000 years ago may have contributed to the extinct of mammoths and severely affected the Clovis Culture. How incredible and terrible would that experience be?

But Climate Change is a whole other thing because humans are the cause, or at least play a significant role in its development. And the aspect that many don't like to face is that their own actions and choices contribute to the problem.

I needed to do something about it.

Nearly three years ago I sold my Toyota Tacoma and began my daily bus commute to and from work. It takes me 20 minutes (1.25 miles) to walk from my house to the bus stop. I do this when it's cold and when it rains.

I do it for the Planet and all the living creatures that inhabit it. We should all find some way to lessen our consumption of resources and impact upon this Earth.

If you would say pollution of our environment I would agree with you.
But climate change, I do not agree.
Other planets in our solar system are also experiencing climate change, neptune, saturn and mars, for example.
Our impact does not extend that far.
Volcanoes create more climate change than people.
There has been an increase in volcanism since the 60's, which we are not responsible for.
We live in a large universe with many anomalies which we are slowly becoming aware of.
There are cycles which our solar system goes through in our galaxy (like transiting the galactic plane) that take so long to occur that we have no previous record of the events and so are in new ground and need to learn as we go.

The big thing with all the propaganda surrounding GW is that it is not possible for man to have any effect at all.
The climate will change regardless even if we all were to commit mass suicide to "save the planet" it would still continue without our influence.
But the politicians are not stupid, and so they extend the idea of hope, even though it is false hope, it keeps anarchy and riots from occurring (which is its major purpose).

But pollution, there is another can or worms entirely.
We are the cause of lots of contamination to our air, our water and our land, and it is despicable.
Yet the thing that drives that is our monetary system.
Change that and so many other things in our world would be altered.

The climate will change regardless even if we all were to commit mass suicide to "save the planet" it would still continue without our influence.

Gee. I don't think I've ever heard of committing mass suicide to save the planet.

I was just proposing taking the bus and perhaps recycling.

But I guess I just wasn't thinking big enough.

Oh well, I won't ask you to kill yourself or do anything that drastic. Suicide is bad for recruitment.

And you don't have to join my side yet. There's still time for you to change your mind.
