Gatekeeper
Shades of Reason
Once upon a time the colors of the earth were having a disagreement. Each color boasted about their own importance, giving little consideration to the "others".
Green shouted out:
In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak:
Then rain spoke again:
Now, imagine that the colors represent the worlds "Other" religions. Each one created for Gods special purpose. How amazing would it be if all were to realize that each are equally important, and then come together, uniting in the name of love and acceptance.
Surely God has a reason for the many worlds religions. Perhaps it is for the cause of unity, realizing the division, and hate that intolerance truly brings into the world ...
I'm not sure who wrote this story, but I liked it, and thought I'd share it along with my thoughts on it. I posted this on another board, but I received an infraction, and the post was deleted, lol. Is it really that offensive? I thought it was quite hopeful, and inspiring.

Green shouted out:
Blue interrupted:"I am clearly more important than you all. I am the sign of life. I was chosen for grass, and trees, and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am more important than all of you."
Yellow chuckled at both of them:"You only think about the land, but consider the sky and the sea. Water is the basis for life, and the sky offers space, peace and serenity. Without my peace, you are nothing."
Then orange started to blow her trumpet:"You two are so serious. I bring laughter, and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower the whole world smiles. Without me there would be no fun. The rest of you would be dull without my joy."
Red could stand it no longer. He shouted out:"I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges and mangoes. I don't hang around often, but when I fill the sky at sunrise, or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives a thought to any of you."
Purple rose to his full height. He was very tall and spoke with great pomp:"I am more precious than all of you! I am blood - Life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion, of love, the red rose, and the poinsettia. Without me there would be no life to give any of you any consideration.
Finally indigo spoke, but much more quietly than the rest, yet with just as much determination:"I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me, for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me. They listen and obey! Unlike you , I am honored."
And so the colors went on boasting taking little consideration for the others. All claiming to be best, and more valuable. Each of them were convinced that the others were less important than themselves. their quarreling became louder and louder! suddenly there was a bright flash of lightning! The thunder rolled and shook the earth! Rain began to pour, and the colors drew closer and closer together for comfort..."Think of me. I am the color of silence. you hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and for contrast, for prayer and for inner peace."
In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak:
The colors were humbled at the rains wisdom, and lowered their heads in shame. As they looked down at the sea, they saw the refection they had made by joining together."You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves. don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose?
Then rain spoke again:
This story tell us a great deal about unity, and how needless conflict truly is. It teaches that when we appreciate each other, and come together as one body, how amazingly beautiful that unity becomes."All of you are equally important, and very much needed. When you come together as one, you create one of God's greatest gifts. "The Rainbow" a sign of unity, and love, and hope for tomorrow."
