so whats Hell Like ?

Duke: {moans} Forgive me, Sire. I will change my will, and leave my lands to the Church.

King: WHAT???........{Duke signs his will}

Godfrey: Blessed be thy stainless soul.

i'm impressed, wil. your prize is a turkish helmet - you know, one of those with the two-foot spike coming out the top.

b'shalom

I'll take your turkish helmet and place it right next to my taoist sun fish...and raise you a holy hand grenade, the kind that blow's all of G!d's creatures to itty bitty bits.

What, the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch?

Tradition holds that the Grenade was deployed to rid the world of the terror of The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog.

However, no-one really knows, and apparently there's so much 'true shrapnel' from the HHG, kept in secret and sacred locations, that were one to melt it all down, there's enough there to make a full-size replica of a Sherman tank, and still have enough left over for at least three dozen Spears of Destiny!

or a Trojan Rabbit.
This thread has really gone to hell.
Ah, and ain't it interesting how all it takes to make a consciousness of hell heavenly is a change of thought, a change of perspective.

Is this a thread though the metaphor or a metaphorical thread?

Beats tiptoeing through the tulips any day.;)

To believe that a hell exists and that God would create one, one would have to believe that it is a just place.

To check if you think it is, just answer this question truthfully.

It is just that a man can sin for 120yrs. and then must suffer torture for 1200000000000000000000+ years to infinity?

Is it just that punishment should continue after someone has repented for their sins?

If one cannot or will not repent then is it just to continue torture or is it more just to simply kill him?

To my mind, to continue to torture without a purpose is just plain evil and cruelty.

I am new here but I see one good mind here already.

Nice.

In terms of Abrahamic faiths what is Hell like, and what is the scriptural basis for it ?

It is a gloomy place can be called darkness where every soul will go after death. It's name is sheol. There was also a field (Gehenna) near Jerusalam for the burning of the dead and there was always a fire there (representative of the eternal fire).

Sheol is translated as Hades later on, and when Hades is said to be thrown to the Lake of Fire, it becomes the burning hell.

One can believe such things if they wish, but such beliefs are not good for one's mental health.

Rather that's exactly what you BELIEVE. You can't be sure that if I actually "KNOW" it or "BELIEVE" it. :D

What worths more thought is that if I know it for a fact that hell exists, how will I be able to keep you informed of?

There's no channel for a human to persuade another human about such a truth (let's assume that it's a truth for awhile). In the end, it all relies one's faith to make a decision on whether to believe (a kind of faith) or not (another kind of faith).

And in the end, our only difference is that our faith differs, no one side is more legitimate then the other.

Moreover, you will notice this when you know something for a fact. :D Perhaps only after knowing it for a fact that you will notice this.
