The Party.

Well I am not so sure that Kansas is where I would go camping. Its very unfamiliar, and happy camping requires preparation. It is an intimate experience.

Seems a pretty geographically diverse bunch to me, could be a challenge.
I know that lately work has been well...less than lucrative and longer hours due to our fine manufactured recession, so flying about for a weekend event is not very likely.
Any holidays will be spent close to home and on the cheap.

Umm, Dream baby, unless you all are gonna come over here, cos thats where Wagga Wagga is. I was just there a few months ago. Nice place, tho. I think it might be a little far for some of you to travel, its only a 12hour drive for me... LOL
Everyone come to Va Beach. We will drink shakes at the original Purple Cow. We will go out onto the Va Beach boardwalk. We'll finish off the day with camping at Seashore State Park. I will show you one of the very first plexiglass podiums ever made! Instead of scorpion land, I might also be able to book us a visit to literally a snake handling church -- no promises. We can be in the audience at a taping of the 700 Club! We can visit the library of the Association for Research and Enlightenment and also the library of Regent University (originally from Oral Roberts U). Next we'll head over to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, and the Norfolk Zoo. We can visit the Chrysler Museum, the General McArthur museum, and Nauticus. There is golfing, hunting, swimming, tennis, interesting shops, thrift shops, used book stores, movies, late night beach bars, concerts, Va Symphony, and a waterpark. We can even go on a short cruise. Plus its nearby for moi. :)

perhaps we might have to have a continent by continent party. The british can meet as one, the americans, well you guys are spread so far all over the place that you might have to divide it up into a few groups, and then there is the middle eastern guys(and gals), they can have a get together, Me and salty will be the aussie contingent, and oh yeah, kiwimac, well i suppose he can come over here to the western island for a get together. LOL.

one word....chiggers.
Even if it was cheap.... a weekend in America?? lol... That would be a waste of time.
exactly so the union (the next one could be a reunion) would be for a few days and then everyone go to their seperate and varied sites....
Yeah, it does seem a near impossible task to find a place for everyone to gather.

Aww, in a perfect world...
who cares...just gather...even if we do it in different places...the groups could go webcam for a few hours and be together and even folks at home could join in and wish they were there!
I always wanted to go to the Azores :p
I'd say there is one in every bunch....but we seem to have a plethora.

Namaste Dream,

I'm seeing a planner, some volunteering here....Brian??

Oh and va beach....I like that we have a host in planning...and odds are more than a few wouldn't mind stopping in at Edgar Cayce's...yes the sleeping prophets ARE center is right there...

Fly into any of the Washington DC area airports pick your best rate DCA, IAD, BWI, tis about a 4 hour drive from any of them....and you could visit this nations capitol and we may even be able to dig up some crash space and commute down. Smithsonian Museums are huge and free...out at Dulles is a space shuttle, SR71 and few hundred other planes all in one hanger...

oh i dont know, what is right smack bang in the middle of the country? just thinking that would be the fairest, as far as travel goes anyway. Just a thought.

Well, in Kansas they say there is a tree. They call it 'The Tree'. Apparently Kansas is so flat that you can see it from anywhere. :)

OK, being a Kansan, allow me to add some geographic correction: as you move west to east across the state, you move from quite flat, almost treeless terrain to hilly and somewhat more forrested terrain, (the eastern third known as the Flint Hills region), As for myself, I live smack dab in the middle of the state. earl

Las vegas is probably the last place i would want to visit. LOL. I dont mean to offend any Las vegans(?) and obviously i am baseing this opinion entirely on tv and movies, just doesnt appeal to me, but you never know. A couple of years ago, i would never have thought i would have been to LA, DC or Detroit. LOL.
