Yellowstone's plumbing reveals plume of hot and molten rock 410 miles deep

ScienceDaily (Dec. 14, 2009) — The most detailed seismic images yet published of the plumbing that feeds the Yellowstone supervolcano shows a plume of hot and molten rock rising at an angle from the northwest at a depth of at least 410 miles, contradicting claims that there is no deep plume, only shallow hot rock moving like slowly boiling soup.

Yellowstone has enough geothermal energy to heat the whole west. We just need to learn more about how to harness it efficiently.

we better put a big dome over it and catch the next volcanic eruption....

Could you imagine if we spent time to capture the geothermal...and then the mountain blew...which appears to be inevitable as it is about 20-50,000 years behind its normal cycle...

One side would look at the billions of dollars wasted....

Another side would say that the installation caused the eruption...

Of course if and when it goes...9/11 and Haiti will seem mild by comparison.
