Have you seen the little piggies crawling in the d
As I am sure most you science types will be aware that CERN have the ATHENA experiment... To create antiprotons, The process of creation.... One of their staff said in the collision of 500,000,000 protons we might collect 1, antiproton from it. They have been working on this for 30 years. They have an eighth of a gram of them...... What I do find amazing, is if you took a penny... If you had that much antiproton... You would have enough power to launch a rocket into space six times over... That is like wow.....

And imagine in your car!! 40 billion miles to the gallon! lol.

So aside from being an awesome idea for weapons, as a fuel, antimater is sweet.... But..... lol The nearest star system..... Is, quite some distance eh? They claimed it would take billions of years to create enough antimatter to make transport there and back possible.... So I guess my question is.... Why bother? lol.... It must cost so much.... CERN running the ATHENA, ATRAP and ALPHA experiments... Why do they bother? Are they also looking to make it more effective or different ways? Or are they just sticking to this? Cause it seems crazy....
 
You must certainly be aware that they never tell the public the real reasons for their research.
These are just window dressings.
Such things are on a need to know basis.
All the secrecy kind of sucks though, don't it.
 
Perhaps they are working to nullify radioactive decay using time reversal on the quantum scale! Say a nuclear war breaks out -- they take their antimatter protons and create a time sync that starts sucking time from protons around the world. Bingo, the nukes are useless and fail to detonate. The only thing is, they've got to have enough antimatter stored up to keep the time-sucker going for several hours. Unfortunately, antimatter protons are made using lots of money. Part of the reason is that normal matter tries to sprawl out and dissipate, but not money. The strange currency principle states that money always collects into larger and increasingly more useless piles. To make antimatter, you first need a bank where the money can collect, then you send the currency to a lab to have it compressed. I am thinking about maybe doing something like that for a living. It sounds like interesting work.

Just off the top......I really don't know.
But is could have to do with the age old quest for the "philosophers stone"
which is a compound able to transmute matter from one form to another.
Or it could have to do with the transmission of matter from one place to another.
Both of these require lots of research into the kind of antimatter work they are doing in these labs.

Progress in fundamental science is very important to understanding the role of humanity in the universe. It is a costly enterprise, but worth the expense. :)

The Illusion of Reality

It's a kind of primer into all that.

I think these folks have come about as close to understanding the nature of "God" as anyone has, in modern times.

In my opinion, their theories allow for coexistence between realities and I can't really think of anything much more godly than this.
