theres a wee man beating a drum in my heart!

lol No not yet I think perhaps starting next year perhaps we'll then be ready for pitter patter of little 17th angel feets. :)

I was just thinking in an overall way... I have a phone cost me £9.99 About two months ago.... It's not that great sure... I can call people... And I can play two games! But that is it.. And I am happy with that I just wanted a phone (which I rarely ever use!)

But you look at the "definition" of a phone these days... It's like a GPS, WiFi, Game console, emailing, faxing, camera..... Goes on... It's a digital swiss army knife with many gadgets that won't get used, lol they just have to top the previous model for some reason... So I thought Ultra Scanner could be the next bit. :D Looked like the guy was holding a phone is all.

That is a fantastic tool! I hope they can use this to bring down the cost of triage and other medical care. I wonder how good it is, what resolution you get, and whether you can tune it to different kinds of tissue? I wonder how they got it so small? Maybe it will replace dental x-ray equipment!

By operating at a much shorter wavelength than would be typically used for depth sounders and fish finders the size of transducer is thereby reduced. Mylar film transducer technology may also be used to replace some ceramic-based, piezio-electric effect transducers to effect a further reduction in both cost and size.

Greater resolution, and possible 3-D effects, may be achieved by employing a quadrature transducer arrangement.
Both mylar and ceramic based transducers may be subject to a range of scanning frequencies with the ceramic systems displaying a more narrow operating range.

Ultrasound is currently being used to complement dental X-rays as a diagnostic tool.

For more information, drop by and have a cup of tea ( it may be prudent to provide one's own tea as one never knows what is cooking in the lab) while visiting with one's local neighborhood Techno-Mage.

Ultra sound will be the next new feature on the dingleburrys and iphones and what nots... You never know when you might need it!
Greetings 17th Angel.

The hardware development required for such a "dongle" is minimal and somewhat simplistic as the basic 'depth sounder on a chip' has been available since the 1980's.

Existing smart 'phones have more than sufficient processing power to render the images.

Should Bluetooth be coupled via ANT with an external ultrasound unit that possibility exists awaiting only an inspired programmer and/or marketeer.

Greetings Dream. (forgot to do so in first reply:eek:)

More to the point, IMHO, it is hoped that the accuracy of the initial diagnosis, coupled with timely and appropriate treatment, would be greatly enhanced.:)

It may be considered as a remote possibilty that secondary infections may also be reduced in using these newer devices, as opposed to applying bats as an ultrasound source, directly to a wound site.
