Paranormal Possibilities (and the Implications Thereof)

... I am in rehab ! don't tempt me !

:D, oh, a hot head, ha :D, I love a little sparring action. ;)

Har ... ah, well ... I'd say Descartes was also a Great Soul, like the Buddha, if not quite a Mahatma after the fashion of Mohandas K. Gandhi, or the Theosophical Masters. I like these other topics, too.

I am glad to hear you are a fan of Descartes. Please tell us why you believe so ? Did you realize that his work lead to the development of calculus ? And his rule of signs allows one to determine the number of negative and postive roots in a polynomial :).

But wasn't this thread about the Paranormal? I may have helped to derail it, but I'd rather either help to get it back on track, or else offer the suggestion that other topics get discussed on other threads - which we could start fairly easily.

I agree, but part of the job of a radical reformer is to derail. How else will one move the discussion in new directions :p.

.

IF anyone has any theories on how "telekenesis, ESP," etc. might work, please share your thoughts.

And I do not believe in telekenesis, ESP or other paranormal activities. I think this is junk science. Show me the peer reviewed literature :p.

What you just said ... good enough for me! :D

Seriously, actually. Descartes was speaking of the res cogitans, the res extensa, hundreds of years ago. He was speaking frankly, candidly, as well as he was able - and as much as he was permitted to - in an age when ignorance and oppression were still a choking fog (keeping Europe spiritually and intellectually in check).

Also, he showed us something important about Who and what we really are (the Cogito), by teaching us - or at least reminding us - how to stand on our heads. It's an important step in the right direction, even if it does remain to many a leap of Faith.

Agreed.

Might I suggest delighting yourself with the Skeptical Inquirer then? It's right up your alley.

No really. It ought to keep you busy, and it will help reinforce what you already believe.
