None, that is why there are so many religions offering all kinds of salvation.Good points on the endless loop of the why.

Thing is, I spent many years within a religious faith.
Having spent many more years looking at all the religions that this world has to offer,
I can say that while I respect aspects of them all, none are complete in themselves.
Personally, I subscribed to Buddhist philosophy as I find that it is pretty coherent and internally consistent.Thing is, I spent many years within a religious faith.

A big factor was that in Buddhism, there is no need to posit an almighty creator.
I can experience the ocean by wading into the waves at my local beach. I don't have to be on EVERY shore to know experience the ocean.
Oh, but so many different experiences of it! Every beach has it's different moods and expressions according to the time and the season, and there are so many different types of beach - and oceans!

Yes, if there is no intention to benefit anyone/anything.Just a formless field of benefaction.
It may not be a man with a beard living in the clouds... but aren't we talking about the same thing?
I'm going to disagree with you here shawn. I can experience the ocean by wading into the waves at my local beach. I don't have to be on EVERY shore to know experience the ocean.
Each religion is complete in itself if a person applies its practices and experiences enlightenment.
And as a postscript, I agree that there is no point to our existence. It just is.

I wonder who else is going to wade into our little beach.
I am just interested in seeing the variations of peoples conceptions.
Not in discussing the merits of or arguing about the different points of view.
Some of us will have similar ideas about this question and some will be quite different......
.....but who cares, really......it is all opinion anyway.
As long as it gets you through the night.
Why do we exist? (For what purpose Are we here?)
Saltmeister said:Well, I didn't authorise my own existence. My parents did.
I didn't plan my birth and nor did I plan the circumstances in which I found myself. I never received an instruction manual on how to live. So . . . I have had to improvise.
I have made up my own purpose and mission.
The point of the question is not so much to find an answer as it seems to be highly subjective and unanswerable, but the point is to get the mind thinking in this area as it is typical to just leave it way on the mental backburner and just go with the flow of prevailing wind.Several pages back, I wanted to try to answer the question, but gave up. I started to wonder what the point was of even trying to answer. Here is what I proposed posting.
As you can see, I don't have much to say about this except to say that I don't have much to say about this. I am not sure how to answer the question except to say that I am not sure how to answer the question.
