I try to post and it says the "moderator" will have to approve of the post before it is posted. I have posted several times and been told the "moderator will have to approve----

How long does it take to be allowed to post?

Amergin

Out of all your posts I found only one that was moderated, the rest were not. (well actually two, but one was a duplicate) So I unmoderated one and removed the duplicate, I don't know why the computer flagged it.

Everyone always receives that notice after posting - but anyone with less that 10 posts, if they include a link (to a website or image) within that post, or else contains any root from a list of moderated words, then the post needs moderator approval to publish.

I realise it's a hassle when false positives do happen, but they thankfully happen very rarely.

Unfortunately, the alternative would be to have the forums filled filled with all sorts of unpleasant stuff posts by scripts that crawl the net specifically to deface sites with ads.

Amergin, welcome! Never mind the "you can't post til mommy says its OK!" function, and never mind how harshly I have shouted at you: that's just a kind of hazing that we put all newbies through to see if you are worthy to join our august fraternity.

Brian, what's happening to me is: when I post, it generally hangs up my browser for a long time, telling me it's "waiting for interfaith.org..." for what seems like forever. I can prod it and get it to move, but then sometimes the post is eaten (I always ctrl-A and copy-paste before hitting Submit, having learned my sad lesson), sometimes it posts double, or sometimes it tells me "You have to wait between posts; try again in 48(whatever) seconds" which actually means it's fine, the "first" post went through and the "double" post is being rejected. But when the double-post does go through, I try to Edit/Delete it away: then if the browser hangs again, I will sometimes get told I'm not allowed to Edit/Delete it anymore, because that's only in the first 20 minutes (the browser frequently hangs longer than that!); there's a double post in "A phone call to a Muslim missionary" (top of the Abrahamic board) where you could kill the first copy (has a slight edit error in it) if you like.

Any ideas of what is causing this or how to stop it?

Edit: on this one it told me to "wait 44 seconds", even though I hadn't clicked or done anything, anything at all, that might look like I was trying to make it post again! I just went back to the thread and sure enough my post was here, fine, without any double; now I'm experimenting to see if it lets me get away with an edit.

Hm, that sounds odd, Bob - I wonder if your browser has cached some old scripts from the forum and is therefore trying to call up scripts that no longer exist, thus causing the hanging?

Are you fine to try clearing your browser cache and see if that helps? Feel free to ask if you're not exactly sure how.

I switched over to Google Chrome a while back because my Internet Exploder was getting squirrelly. Maybe Chrome has some issues....

I haven't ever had any problems posting, but now, for some reason I'm craving Cheerios...

I have Firefox also. I have set the home-page on Firefox to MSN (since the Netscape survivors hate Microsoft), set the Internet Exploder home-page to Google Blogspot, and set the Google Chrome home-page to My Yahoo!

Today, everything seems to be working; apparently Chrome has finally figured out how to run the scripts properly, so I am going to leave well enough alone.

Edit: that'll teach me! I might as well have issued a dare to the Internet gods to screw this up

Yes indeed it was; but gradually it seems to be learning. No duplications happened today, and I've posted a few times.

There have been a couple accidentaly caught by the anti-spam filters but they should have been approved now. :)

hi Brian, could you please approve my post too? Thanks! I hope its not lost, I worked on it.
