The holy ished tree was considered to be the Tree of Life, especially the ished tree at Heliopolis. Thoth and Seshat wrote the king's name and the length of his reign on its leaves and fruit, protecting the ruler and perpetuating his name. Re was said to have split the ished tree in the morning after his victory over his enemies.
The tree was quite often depicted during the New Kingdom.
