I'd say psychologically and chemically love's effects and process are entirely different than hate. I hope I haven't given the impression that I think they are the same thing. When I said 'First love' I was talking about puppy love and that adrenaliine that goes shooting through your brain, replacing reality with a mutant equivalent. Love can be part of it, but love (not puppy love) generally improves your sense of reality. I recently learned a new psychology term for what love does for your reasoning, creativity and learning: "Cortical Facilitation" You gotta love the sound of that. I always did like the sound of brain-ology terms, such as 'Cerebellum' or 'Cortical'. This Cortical Facilitation is very nice sounding, too.
Where did I learn this term? I the other day went into a library and on the bottom of some shelf picked up a copy of Love for No Reason, a very resourceful book. The author has spent a lot of time writing other books that required her to study Love in detail, so it connects to a diverse resource of ideas about love.
