is smoking dope considered as a sin in any of the religions? as far as ive known thats not considered as sin in islam. am i correct? or we can generalize the idea of having mindblowers them all as sin?
Hi PersonaNonGrata
Yes smoking dope is prohibited in Islam. It is the same as drinking alcohol, it changes how your mind works. Anything that can affect the mind is forbidden, as it takes your mind away from Allah and can lead you into sin (because you become more relaxed and less concerned about your modesty).
The scary thing about me ...... I am a Muslim Well that seems to scare everyone for some reason!!
Sorry just thought I would post an honest post... I normally wouldn't admit that to anyone but myself lol..... But that is how I feel....... *shrugs*
An honest post 17th, thank you I am honoured.
I believe many Sufi Muslims would agree with you.
For me the difference is 'what is real?'. If I smoked drugs I may also suggest that I believe in fairies, elephants are flying around the room and free love is the way forward. However, once the drugs had worn off I would see that it was purely the drugs making me think this way.
Islam see's submission to G-d as a very serious matter (hence the inability of most Muslims to joke about faith), this means that we must submit to Allah with a clear head and full knowledge of our committment to Him.
After decades of research this is actually not found to be so. Major university studies have shown that focused, controlled psychedelic drug experimentation has very clearly lead folks on the a path similar to and or superseding conventional religious experiences. For me the difference is 'what is real?'. they come out not only realizing a oneness with all people, all the universe and the creator, but also have no need to repeat the session.
Even if it isn't.... You begin to draw from that and want m more detail and crave information for this as you do while stoned lol... It is going to encourage the reading of X Holy book.... isn't it? Does that not bring knowledge? Things I have learnt while stoned... I can remember clear as light.
lil 17 let's say was inspired by something else.... If he found god. Isn't that good?
Many have experienced similar in their drug experimentation, but the risks are great as those who have succeeded are exponentially few compared to those who have not. Anyone read Remember Be Here Now, by Ram Das?
