From another thread, moving upon request of the OP:
There is nothing worse than agnosticism because it efforts to cut one from God.
Agnosticism does no such thing. Agnosticism simply admits we don't know what we don't know, and that we may in fact never know. Usually applied to deities but can also be applied to other concepts such as pink unicorns. Agnosticism is a framework for thinking, not an effort to cut one from God.
Agnosticism is worse than atheism in that the conviction against atheism is simpler. The saying "an idle mind is the devil's playground" encapsulates agnosticism.
Christ says, "What does it profit a man if he gain the whole world but lose his soul?"
So it is with the 'playground' of agnosticim. The Biblical epistle containing admonition about "progressives" is an early example of conviction against agnosticism. The early 20th century encyclical against the modernists is a more, recent warning about such frivolousness of thought.
