Thank you! I was wondering why I was the only one with no results :eek: I hope mailinator.com has someone who will enjoy being on Belief-o-matics's mailing list. It wasn't much better for me: the top scores were
Sikh, despite not being a monotheist
Jain, despite being a theist
Hinduism — that's plausible
and the bottom ones were
Protestant Christian
Jehovah's Witness
At least they were right there!
 
To me it is the percentages that count.... 90%....you disagree with 10% of their beliefs....one of which may be monotheism...


It is interesting to find that you may feel you disagree completely with a belief system but low and behold you agree with half of their actual beliefs.
 
There are certain answers that count strongly. My top three were obviously selected because I said I believed in reincarnation: if I didn't, I got Bahai and Unitarian (again, ignoring polytheism). They're also geared to distinguishing various types of Christian, with a question about faith healing to pick out the Christian Scientists.
 
Yeah, David. As I mentioned in my OP, I enjoy taking these sort of tests, but I put little value in the results. The questions are too few, and they some of them are obviously posed to button hole certain results.

The value that I do find in them is that they are interesting jumping off points into deeper ruminations about the levels of our perception of existence.

Oh, and I find they are fun, too!
 
Silly quizzes are compulsive: I've just been told that if I were a Muppet, I'd be Kermit. Actually, I think I'm more Waldorf or Statler...

Well, I believe I have a solid understanding, but there you go :D . I did a master practitioner course ten or so years ago so I may be a little out of date.

I do agree that beliefs can be altered to support a chosen way of doing life: I remember doing a process to inculcate a belief that the earth was a wonderful place, to replace my conditioned belief that the earth was a scary place, and that does support my personality in interfacing with others daily.

However in the area of religious and spiritual beliefs I don't find any of them anything other than a restriction on freedom. Some are more useful than others, ok, but in the end it is experience and intuitive knowing that counts.

I'm not sure what 'them' you are talking about. Do you mean NLP? Or do you mean beliefs themselves?

Beliefs. (apologies)

The personality - and NLP - seem restricted to swapping one limiting belief for another (which hopefully will be more useful for the circumstances presenting).

I haven't examined this bit, but NLP seems a view from the bottom up, as it were, and we are evolving to a top-down view. Another way of expressing this might be to say that NLP belongs to the Long Path, and not to the Short Path.

Ok...ever evolving...with a new member inquiring and my urging to try belief o matic... I had to go try again... My home church is Unity, I am driven to be a Unitc a member of New Thought...but it looks like i keep moving further from it when I take the test... I believe the most recent changes is my wish to be a member of an organization that does more in the lines of compassion and care for the impoverished and our planet...more focus on good works...
